Basecamp won't launch

Just loaded Topo Canada V4 on my laptop from DVD. Everything seemed to load ok but Basecamp will not start. I'm using Windows 10 with no other issues. I had it on my old desktop with XP on it and it worked fine.
  • If you've just loaded a new map BaseCamp may take longer to launch, also you may need to restart your PC. If it's still not launching the map upload could be corrupted. To determine whether the issue is BaseCamp or the new map uninstall the map and see if BaseCamp then launches.

I'm new to this so not sure what you mean by "a new map Basecamp". It's Topo Canada 4 from a DVD. I've given it plenty of time to launch, I have restarted my pc and I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling. As far as corrupt, a friend tried it on his much older laptop and it worked fine and as I said it worked fine on my old decktop pc which just had Windows XP. How do uninstall just the map?

To be exact....there could have been a comma or a period just before the word BaseCamp "a new map, BaseCamp may take longer to launch." :o
I do not have Win10. I recommend you do a Google search for "Uninstall programs in Win10" to get instructions.
Then re-install and when the software asks or tells you where it is going to install the program make sure you use the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
  • @DATEZZ ;) Probably a then rather than a comma, 'if you've just loaded a new map then BaseCamp ...'

@660jeffr Just because it works on a friends PC doesn't mean it's not corrupted on yours, but if I understand you correctly you've now uninstalled then reinstalled the map? As DATEZZ says, the next step is to uninstall then reinstall BaseCamp. Ensure you shut down your PC and reboot after the uninstall and prior to the fresh install.

ie because I have the BaseCamp not wanting to open problem. So try uninstalling then installing again
  • No, an uninstall doesn't delete your data.

Sussamb, I Uninstalled and everything appeared to disappear except the kmz map folder. I shut the computer down and later in the day installed latest version of BaseCamp again. Opened it up and thankfully the menu structure and all my data appeared, then the Welcome to BaseCamp window - great, then the BaseCamp Application has stopped working window. BaseCamp was working really good for the last couple of years and I maps of farms that I monitor, river catchments, and little tributary catchments. Apart from not being able to draw a polygon and shade it in I have had no need to go the google earth way. Obviously BaseCamp does not recognise a windows 10 file in the latest version. How can I resolve this problem?
  • Not sure then what could be your issue as it works fine on my Win10 system. You will need to call Product Support for detailed troubleshooting.
