Route help

I am new to the forum and new to this GPS. Had a 7200 but always used Mapsource to create a rt.

RV760, base camp ver:4.6.2

Created rt and wanted to change it to a way I know that's better (easier--less traffic). When I use alt and the hand it will change the rt but the old rt is still there. How do get this to work the way I want?

Also if I can download Mapsource can I use it to create/transfer routes? (Until I get the hang of basecamp!)

Thanks
DICK
  • Glad all resolved.

You can delete a route in various ways. Right click it in the left hand lower pane and select Delete. Or click it on the map so it's highlighted then hit the Delete button on your PC. There are others but that should get you started.

I think I asked the question wrong! Sometimes I want to delete a route completely. The way yu said does that. Sometimes I want to keep the route but sometimes I just want it cleared off the map so I can start a new route. If I do file/new/route I get the box that pops up that says 'new route' and below says 'drag start point here' & 'drag destination here'. I tried that and I couldn't drag anything, anywhere.

  • You can only start a new route that way if you have waypoints to drag/drop into that box. Otherwise you need to close it and click on the map to select points for the route.

Waypoints can be 'start' and 'finish"?? That's what I tried to drag into the box.

I have been using the 'new route' (the 3 connected boxes) to create my route. Then to change it to another way I want to go, I use the 'hand/alt' and drag it to the way I want. That's when I end up getting the 2 routes.

    Thanks

Dragging a route using the hand/Alt method shouldn't create two routes, never has for me.

I'll pay closer attention next time and see if I can figure out why it does that. Maybe it's where I place the hand to make the change. Too close to original route? To far away?

Sooner or later I'll get this thing figured out. I appreciate your help.

    Thanks
