One easy way to add a via point where you want to split is the use the selector tool, click the route and drag the the route line. Once it "rubberbands", you can place the point back in the same place you dragged from. Now you can right click on the new via and choose split in the context menu.

yes! that works. Thank you. Sometimes I get these waco loopy around auto routes on some sections of the road for some reason and the only way to straighten out the route is to split it, delete and reroute manually. thanks so much
