Waypoints from basecamp don't match physical location when using Garmin GPS

I can locate some houses on the basecamp map and save them each as waypoints but when you drive to each, the locations are off maybe as much as half of a block. Any ideas as to why?

Well in this age of mass-market and affordable GPS units it'd be a lot easier to find places if the actual coordinates were published. Some chain stores in the US (e.g. Cabela's) do that.

Also, keep in mind that Addressing in most Countries is somewhat arbitrary as set by the local municipality. Mapping those, often times quite laughable, schemes would be a very costly endeavor which not even the mighty Google is going to take on. As, example, I've given most of the major mappers my physical (door-to-door) address at least once each year for the past five years and not one of them has gotten it right yet. Google was actually close once, but then they improved their mapping and put my address out in the middle of my neighbors property--not even on the road.

Although some GPS receivers support door-to-door addressing, if the map data is screwed up so will the results of the search be screwed up.
