Here is what I have:
Garmin etrex 20
Apple OSx 10.705
Here is what I want to do:
Click where I am, click where I want to go.
Ideally I would like it to route be back with as little backtracking (traveling the other way on the same road) as possible.
Get a route with onscreen indicators of what I should do (the purple line)
Here is what I tried:
I have generated a route in map my ride, I didn't use basecamp because base camp, apparently, cannot follow roads; I had to click (and wait up to 20 minutes as bascamp calculated a straight line) and then at each bend of the road click along the bend. I tried to create a route about 2km long, it took about 3 hours to do it.
That didn't work so I used ride with GPS. In ride with GPS I created a route; but, it exports as gpx, which the etrex 20 will not see as a route, it sees it as a track.
When I try to turn it to a route in basecamp it, quite frankly, gets lost.
What I want is a route, not a track. However, I also want directions that do not look like the mess in the second picture.
If this cannot be done:
Is there a way to just create a waypoint on the map in basecamp and let the routing in the gps itself try to get me there?
