I just order a 3579LMTHD in the hopes it would act as the Garmin Montana and not recalculate Routes. SUSSAMB directed me to the post on the BaseCamp windows forum shown at the bottom of this post. Rick at GPSPassion Nuvi has been very helpful but now where can I confirm Falagar supposedly statement.
First question is about recalculating routes. It appears to me the route must be recalculated, if not you have a track. I think the issue is changing the route. Does anyone know if the BaseCamp is sending all the route preferences/settings info to the Montana such that the Montana can calculate the same route?
Second question, 3579 can import trips but at this point in time a trip with 4 day routes imports as 4 trips with a route each day. Does this mean I will have to have any routes I want to send to the 3579 be included in a trip?
Thanks

It's not really the same thing, BaseCamp creates normal routes with Trip Planner. The idea is that eventually these trip planner (BaseCamp trip planner) trips will be able to be sent to the Nuvi as trips (with vias intact, no recalculation of the route).
For the time being, routes you create with trip planner will be sent to the Nuvi the same way you'd send a route now.
I haven't verified it, but supposedly the new generation of Nuvis already do not recalculate routes from BaseCam
