Routing is basecamp 4.2.1 is just a straight line between wayponts?

Did you get a route before? If so go to the route properties and select 'recalculate'.

Yes, that worked fine before -- I tried several (new) waypoints and recalculated many times, also inverted the route, but calculating takes 1 sec and the result is a straight line...

Any people with insights? It used to work like a charm but now routing in bc between two waypoints is just a straight line -- do i oversee anything?

Have you selected the correct map and an appropriate activity (not the direct one)

Sounds like you are on the base map. Try plugging in your GPS to use the map on the GPS.

Is Map Detail set to Highest?

I have map detail not set to highest and I am not using the base map but the Topo map Benelux from Garmin that used to route like a charm.

The profile is MTB, I have checked the configuration, these settings are not changed -- and the line also when I recalculate the route stays/appears.

I tried it circa 20 times, 1 time it did come with a perfect route again (without me changing settings) and then it plotted straight lines again.

Sounds to me like your active map is not a "City Navigator" but a base map in your device. (My 5 cents worth....)
