Garmin BaseCamp Mobile app

Hi all,

The Garmin BaseCamp Mobile app is in the app store.

On the moment it's compatible with the iPhone 4s and the New Ipad (iPad 3).

U can download it in the app store:

http://itunes.apple.com/nl/app/basecamp-mobile/id556137122?mt=8

On the moment it crashes on my iPad up on connection with the Fenix
i can check this o a iPhone since i don't owne a 4s.

Update:
checked in on a iPhone 4S running iOS 6, the app also crashes to up on connection with the Fenix.
Both devices run ios6

So far I like my fēnix™. It's about to get a 20,000km workout - in a manner of speaking. I'm impressed with how much data I can actually load onto the device. I also like how Mobile BaseCamp displays the data - very much like [the real] BaseCamp. I made this comment on page one but having had the chance to play a bit with [the real] BaseCamp and fēnix™ and now Mobile BaseCamp and the fēnix™ I would really like to see Mobile BaseCamp use onboard maps and not have to be connected to the internet. I have Garmin North American map app on my iPhone 5, why not use those maps? I would even entertain "other" onboard maps of the world would be nice - gee, how about OSM maps?

Anyway, the #1 issue for me is that Mobile BaseCamp can't SAVE my fēnix™ data in such a way (GPX) that I could share it with others that don't have a Garmin wireless-sharing device.

    Cheers,
  • iPad Mini & GPSmap 62stc…are these compatible? Doesn't seem like any radio is really workable in this unit. It's maybe a year old purchase. I have to buy yet another unit? That would be the 4th unit.

It appears from your question that you are not familiar with Mobile BaseCamp. It is not "really" BaseCamp as you know it on your computer. MBC is iPhone 5-iOS6 and is ONLY for looking at the data on a Garmin fēnix™ GPS-ABC watch.

You can't. The 60CSx requires a serial or USB connection. Unless iPad's support either (and it'd have to support USB Host mode) you're out of luck.

I made this very point in this post.

  • It has already been said in this topic:

  • Hi.

The basecamp app is a nice app for my fenix watch. I do miss the posibility to upload info to connectgarmin.com.
This would be a nice addition to the app.

Basecamp for Mac/Windows has the feature of adding own maps. Trough this one can add for instance self produced maps from OpenStreetMaps. This would be a nice to have feature on BaseCamp for iOS :)
  • If BaseCamp dropped support for existing GPS, and designed the software and GPS together, it would make things easier. Do you like that ideal. Even if the weren't supporting hundreds of different firmware version. Routing is much more complicated than storing photos. From what I read on the forum, all I see is request for more complicated stuff. I don't believe Apple could have done a bit better. iMaps is easier to use but cell tower data has a long way to go before you can depending on it for directions anywhere except large cities and iMaps can't touch BC for storing and managing your geodata. If you under stand it , BaseCamp is simple, if you don't it's complicated.

After posting I noticed the thread title mobile BC, the above post was concerning BaseCamp.
