V4.0.1 Issues

  • Detailed Data List: Manipulating the Window or data field sizing causes BC to crash: repeatable.
  • Route Properties, Info, Summary Text: Text is now white which makes it impossible to see.
  • Backup from v4.0.0.8 to v4.0.1 was double in size with no additional data. What was a 157MB Backup is now a 382MB Backup. Subsequent Backups of v4.0.1 do not double. Getting very concerned about what is in my Backups.
  • Adventures: Would like to be able to select more than one Adventure at a time to Send To Device.

Thanks for the following it works great.

Good news everyone! The next version of BaseCamp will have a preference that allows you to move waypoints, or drag routes/tracks without holding option. This preference will need to be added manually to the BaseCamp preferences file. If you're interested, here's how you will be able to do it:

(Note, these steps should only be followed by advanced users!)

1. Run 'Terminal'
2. Enter the following command exactly as shown.
defaults write com.garmin.BaseCamp NoOptKeyToMoveUserDataKey -bool true
3. Run BaseCamp to verify that the drag behavior has changed.

Note: to revert BaseCamp to its previous state enter the same command as above, but change the 'true' to 'false'.

I "found" my problem with the Mac's.

Database 3.3.x contains a problem, which the BC 4.0.1 cannot handle during upgrade of the database. After deleting the 3.x.x database, BC 4.0.1 starts with me. Restoring the backup BC 3.x database in BC 4.x does not give any errors, but BC 4.x never starts up again (thus same problem).
I can send the BC 3.x backup if needed, please PM me for that..

One feature/bug is the imported name, we alwyas have to change the name of the imported list, because next time it will overwritten with the next import. Not handy, especiallit, because the real name is out of sight (far right, hidden in the scrolling part of the name). Please change this to import (no overwrite) and use the file name as list name, (like in the Windows version).
Currently the extension is now also added to the listname: Last imported filename.GPX The .GPX in the name is not needed.

Import is slow, very slow. A GPX with several track of 11 Mb takes 2 minutes. It seems there is a conflict with my Boinc Manager (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/index.php version 6.10.58)), if I close Boinc Manager, then import is mucht faster. If i run Boinc Manager (which i do for severaln years now and not updated the software recently). The import is very slow.

It seems that the process performance conflict between BaseCamp Mac v4.x and Boinc Manager is there constantly. Upgrading Boincmanager to version 7.0.31 seems not to give any imporvemtn to BaseCamp. Only quiting BoincManager seems to give eprformance back to BC.

Multiple selection of data in a list and then deleting it with Ctrl-Backspace does not work correctly (all the time), only one item is then deleted. But sometimes it works (mayby it does not work when Boincmanager is active)

The notifications are annoying, escpecialy the remiders for old maps or create adventure (every time, again and again)! Please add the option for suppresing notifications after the first time showing (just like the colelction of anonymous data).

Last question: Why no support for OSX 10.5 anymore?

    font contrast on Info screen

With the update to 4.0.1.0 the info screen font is white on a very light background making it very hard to read on screen. Running MAC 10.8 on iMac. Any thoughts?

Are you referring to the Route Properties Info tab? We have been informed of the issue and it will be resolved in the upcoming maintenance release.

Yes, that's the location. Thanks for the information.

When is this going to be fixed? One of the main functions I use BaseCamp for is getting time and distance for routes I may have to drive. The only way to do this at the moment is to either print the route data or save it as a PDF through the OSX print function. Fixing white font on a white background may not seem like a big deal to the developers, but it is a big deal to users and it should never have happened.
  • You can also select the route and have the information display at the bottom bar in BaseCamp.

Sorry, I missed this one. I will send a PM, because the v3.3 database conversion to 4.0.2 is also still failing.
