V4.0.1 Issues

  • Detailed Data List: Manipulating the Window or data field sizing causes BC to crash: repeatable.
  • Route Properties, Info, Summary Text: Text is now white which makes it impossible to see.
  • Backup from v4.0.0.8 to v4.0.1 was double in size with no additional data. What was a 157MB Backup is now a 382MB Backup. Subsequent Backups of v4.0.1 do not double. Getting very concerned about what is in my Backups.
  • Adventures: Would like to be able to select more than one Adventure at a time to Send To Device.

Thanks for the following it works great.

Good news everyone! The next version of BaseCamp will have a preference that allows you to move waypoints, or drag routes/tracks without holding option. This preference will need to be added manually to the BaseCamp preferences file. If you're interested, here's how you will be able to do it:

(Note, these steps should only be followed by advanced users!)

1. Run 'Terminal'
2. Enter the following command exactly as shown.
defaults write com.garmin.BaseCamp NoOptKeyToMoveUserDataKey -bool true
3. Run BaseCamp to verify that the drag behavior has changed.

Note: to revert BaseCamp to its previous state enter the same command as above, but change the 'true' to 'false'.

Cheers,

Thanks for the heads up. The first two are what happens when you try to localization into 22 languages in a hurry. They'll be fixed soon.

The Backup bloat was induced and fixed in the beta. I know that doesn't help you at this point. We are planning to add code to cleanup the unnecessary photo thumbnails and track segments.

    Crash :(

Beta runs fine, but 4.0.1 crashes on my MacBook.

    See attached error report.
  • Just loaded 4.0.1 seems to work ok, however my map detail must now be @ 300 feet to see the POIs, before the download I could see the POIs @ 0.3 miles. How can I set it back to 0.3 miles? Thanks
  • While your are fixing the white text in route info, I would think it would only take a couple of clicks to allow users to copy the information. I can't select the route information as it stands now. Maybe hard to add being the user is in the Note field. What if the summary information had a button to add the information to the note field for editing and copying?

    Macbook Pro 10.8.1

RE: BC freezes when "detailed view" is expanded. Freezing occurs on lateral scrolling, but not vertical scrolling. Freezes when green expand button is clicked or when dragging a corner to expand. I find that it freezes instantly with waypoints, but it will expand ok when viewing tracks.

    From the download page.
    Notes:

BaseCamp is a 3D mapping application that allows you to transfer Garmin Custom Maps, BirdsEye Imagery, waypoints, tracks, and routes between your Mac and Garmin device. It allows you to manage your data on practically all Garmin map products, but topographic maps are required for 3-D rendering.
    System Requirements:
Intel based Mac running OS 10.6.8 or higher.

To be fair to Garmin, Mac users are very pushyfor the latest and greatest support of Mac features. I hope Garmin will continue to take advantage of the latest OS. To their credit, they are still supporting Power PC with build 2.0.2.

DRTBYK started this thread with 4 issues and View Detailed List being one. azdrmn replied:

I use the arrow keys to move around, while keeping the route tool active.

Beta runs fine, but 4.0.1 crashes on my MacBook.

Same problem on another Mac with 10.6 - Snow Leopard. BaseCamp crashes faster than at my MacBook.

    See attached error report.

(i did manage to run BaseCamp 4.0.1 on a very clean OSX Mountain Lion version, but upgrading my "older" computers is failing)

My problem is that if I create a new route ^R and start to create one and then want to move around the map with the hand tool by clicking the space button and move around i loose the connection with the last point of the route. If I click it'll start a new route when I want to continue the old one. Anyone more who has this problem? Any solution? I hope you understand my english, I'm Swedish ;). I run 4.0.1 on a Mac.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll look into fixing this.
Also, when using a touchpad or magic mouse I like to change the scrolling behavior to pan instead of zoom (in Preferences->Controls). When I'm using the track or route tool, I just scrolling in the direction I want to pan.
