Writing en reading on GPS Error

Hello all,

Have some serious problems with basecamp and my 62s.

When i connect the gps on my mac and try to read it with basecamp nothing happens. The icon near "My Garmin" keeps turning around without stopping. Writing or retrieving something from the GPS is not possible.

I already tried these solutions that i found on the forum:
Delete the file YourUsername/Library/Preferences/com.garmin.basecamp.plist . This will result in losing your preferences data, but your user data will be safe.
Removing your data or at least your TrackSegments folder inside YourUsername/Library/Application Support/Garmin/BaseCamp. I don't recommend blasting your data to fix this issue, but it would work.

Any idea what I should do?

Thanks a lot.
  • See blue below.

So the problem is the GPS, back to the store then.

Just a wild guess by me. I don't know what the problem is

Where can I find the file plist? Maybe the store will be a good solution.

Just move it to the desktop and BaseCamp should create another. If something is not right you can put it back. If you are not running Lion, you will find it in your home directory. See path below.

    Home Directory/Library/Preferences/com.garmin.BaseCamp.plist

If you call garmin, and get mac software support they connect to your computer check the files and delete the ones they think might be the problem. Getting Garmin to check it out is a lot safer than following my advice. Lion Made the Library a hidden folder but the option key and Go to Folder from the Go menu in finder lets you see and open the folder.

    Thanks for the help PSEABOLT.

  • No one can help me? Then I should go with my device to the store? Is the device the problem?

I already bought Lion with the hope it would be solved but same problem.
Is there maybe another program that I can use in the place of basecamp?

I really want to access my files!

    Please help...

We've just identified an issue with reading the geocache_visits.txt from file the device. Assuming you have this file in your /Garmin directory, would you send the file to us so we can figure out what the root cause is and either delete or rename the file. This should resolve the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.
