I'm having a similar problem. After the installation of the new beta it comes up OK, checks for updates and then basically locks up. Nothing is selectable, to include the menu bar at the top. I was running Ant agent, killed that and took it out of startup - no joy. Only option is to fire up the activity manager and do a forced quit.
Using 100K topo, which is the map that displays when it fires up and CN 2011.3 on OSX 10.6.7 - MacBook Air with 4GB of RAM.
Sounds like Garmin needs to buy you a MacBook Air:-)
I don't think it's the "Air". The new beta (so far) has been running fine on mine, OS 10.6.7 with only 2 gigs of ram. I think there's something else going on.
The English version is the only version working now. When I installed, I think I remember BaseCamp asking me to select a language but I can't not find a place to change language in preferences.
It sounds like you may not be running with English as your primary language on your Mac. As it said on the download site, this BaseCamp beta will not run unless English is your primary language. If you really want to see the beta, you can go to System Preferences->Language & Text and make English your primary language, launch the BaseCamp beta and then change the language back to your normal settings. BaseCamp like most apps only cares about the language setting when it is launched.
I've done that but still have the crashing problem. Is there anything else that I could try? I'm from the UK so is this anything to do with the American English setting?
