Full crash report
  • You appear to have a corrupted install. I would delete BaseCamp and reinstall.

I have already tried that 2 times, and the download is correct, during installation no problems, After installation BaseCamp, MapInstall and MapManager are installed. Only BaseCamp is crashing.

What folders could there be more to delete? Some preferences files?

I have deleted the BaseCamp database from user library, reinstalled BaseCamp, but still keep the same message.

Is there maybe a maximum number of installed maps?

On another Mac in the same configuration it is running fine.

    I have removed:

    /Programs/BaseCamp.app
    /User/.../Library/Application Support/GARMIN/BaseCamp/ (directory)
    /User/.../Library/Preferences/com.garmin.BaseCamp.plist

And installed BaseCamp 2.1.2, but it also crashes.

Roadtrip v2.0.2 and Training Center v3.0.4 are still running fine

It seems like you're having 3D rendering issues with BaseCamp. How well do other 3D apps perform on your machine?

What video card does your Mac have? You can figure this out by going to "About This Mac" in the Apple Menu and clicking the "More Info..." button. I've read that OSX 10.6.4 causes 3D rendering issues for some video cards, but I'm not aware of a solution from Apple.

I've attempted to make a preferences file that will make your copy of BaseCamp start up in 2D mode. You'll find it attached below, and hopefully putting it in your Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences folder will get things going for you again. I'd be interested to hear what happens, either way.

Hello, thanks for the support. My video card is a NVIDIA 9500GT with 512mb memory.

System Profile tells me this: Graphics: NVIDIA GPU, NVIDIA GPU, PCIe, 512 MB

The only application which also has a problem is iPhoto, but that one hangs and does not give me any errors, otherwise all applications are running fine.

I have tried the preferences file, but it makes no difference, still crashes

I have checked, and this is my card:

ASUS Bravo 9500/DI/512MD2 (GeForce 9500 GT)

It seems that your graphics card would be affected by this 10.6.4 patch, although I'm surprised that it would cause an outright crash.

If that preferences file didn't fix your issue, I'm unsure that you'll be able to run the current version of BaseCamp before this problem is fixed. We'll look into making the app startup handle this unexpected 3D failure in future versions.

Apple released a patch that could address this problem:

Sorry, i don't get notices when posts are updated by e-mail.

I have de patch loaded, but it makes no difference. What i do see is that other 3D applications have problems too. iPhoto does weird also. and DVD Player does not work either.

In another test i tried an OS X Snow Leopard as a VMWare virtual appliance, and it gives the same error. Within VMWare there is no OpenGL 3D support for OS X. All other Garmin applications run fine in the VMWare session, only BaseCamp for Mac not.

I can confirm that the BaseCamp for Mac version 3.1.1 is working correct and does not crashes anymore.

I do get a message that 3D is disable due to problems or non supporting of 3D imaging, but BaseCamp does startup and I can use it on my OS X PC, as well as in a virtal machine.

Thanks, this makes me very happy!
