BMW Nav VI not recognized using macOS Big Sur with BaseCamp v4.8.12.

I recently purchased a new MacBook Air that runs macOS Big Sur, version 11.6. I installed the latests version of BaseCamp (v 4.8.12), but when I hooked up my BMW Nav VI GPS via USB, the GPS unit isn't recognized so I could transfer routes. Had to use my old Mac and old version of BaseCamp to transfer the GPX file. Is there ia fix for this?

Had this problem since getting M1 MacBook. Reading the solutions on here, I ordered a £4.99 USB 2.0 hub, plugged it into my Mac with the USB-C adapter and into the Nav6 with the Garmin lead. Worked straight away, Garmin mounted as a drive and Basecamp and Express both recognised the Nav6.

I found the solution to my problem after buying non-powered USB hub that did not work. I searched through my pile of USB mini cords and found the original one from Garmin. Plugged it into the USB-C dongle attached to M1 Mac and it connected. Garmin support did not suggest this when I called. Maybe they assumed I was using original cord.
