The same Fenix works fine on the same mac with the same cable in a windows installation on parallels desktop
The same Fenix works fine on another windows Computer with the same cable
My Edge 1030 works fine on the same mac
It sounds like you both are experiencing the same issue. One thing to check is that when using BaseCamp, all other applications that may be communicating with the device are closed, particularly Garmin Express. Also, if you haven't, please make sure permission settings are configured correctly on your Mac according to Garmin BaseCamp Not Detecting Devices on Mac Catalina 10.15.

I've had similar issues before. Make sure you've got the latest Basecamp version and try restarting both Basecamp and your computer. Sometimes a good old reboot helps with these wonky connections. If it still doesn't work, reach out to Garmin support.
