Basecamp 4.8.7 routes just appear as straight lines

I have just updated software on two Garmin Zumo satnavs (1 is BMW Navigator), and updated maps at the same time to City Navigator Europe 2020.3. Since doing so I cannot create routes - they just appear as straight lines. All my old routes created last year appear OK.

This is running on Mac OS Catalina.

Any ideas what the issue is??
