BaseCamp 4.5.2 is now available

The following is a list of changes:
  • Added Mac OS X 10.11 support.
  • Disabled map coverage for device maps.
  • Fixed issue with generating map tiles during app termination.
  • Fixed issues with discovering USB devices.

The Appstore version will be released later next week.
  • It happens on non-Retina screens as well. On my mid-2010 iMac i3 running 10.11, BC 4.5.2 will do the following:

Select a route in the left pane. Select the magnifying glass and click anywhere on the map. The route name disappears and is unreadable, covered by a gray bar, until you click on it again. Ditto the ruler tool. The other tools also do it, but the route name comes back as soon as you release the mouse button.

  • Ah yes, I did confuse the two issues. I really hope to get to it in the 4.6 release.

    From Garmin!!!!

    Dear ale dolomiti,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

I will be happy to help you out with this. The Basecamp app has been discontinued however it is still available to those that downloaded the app before it was discontinued. To find the app please select updated in the App Store. From this screen please select purchased followed by not on this iPhone. From this list you will find Basecamp if you had previously installed it before it was discontinued. Due to the app being discontinued it is not likely to receive anymore updates however you will still have access to the app.

    With Best Regards,

    Derek

  • Hi ale dolomiti,

Just so there's no confusion for others, the BaseCamp mobile app has been discontinued. BaseCamp desktop for Mac and Windows is still alive and kicking with future releases in the works. The Garmin Connect mobile teams are supposed to be integrating the old BaseCamp mobile features I believe.

    Kind regards,
    Greg

    Change request

I would like to request a change for a future update of BaseCamp for Mac.

Can you please add some Route editing buttons to the toolbar such as "Add, Move, Erase and Cut" or a quick shortcut accessable via right clicking to make it faster to edit via points when creating Routes.

From memory (it's been a while since I've used it) the PC version of BaseCamp has Route editing buttons in the toolbar which makes it quick to edit via points in a Route. Int he Mac version, the quickest way I know of to delete a via point for example is to open the Route Info dialogue window and delete points in the list then do a route recalculation. This can sometimes be time consuming to find the via point you want to delete in the list. Any shortcuts to speed up the via point editing process would be appreciated.

I love BaseCamp by the way!

    I couldn't find a 276c, but I did get BC to recognize an old GPSmap696 on it's USB3.0 port.

I haven't been around long enough to know what the old interface looked like, but the best we have on Mac now is the ability to move the via points as well as reshaping the route. I'll forward your request along to our UX guy for a more convenient mechanism for adding and deleting via points.
