VIRB Edit 3.0 can be downloaded at http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591. Updating from inside the app should be available shortly.

A lot has changed since 2.9.

This is the official change list:

  • New, clearer application design and video editing timeline
  • Added support for duplicating, splitting, and trimming clips in the timeline via context menu
  • Added a new 'G-Metrix' tab to display what kind of data is available in the current clip's G-Metrix log
  • Added support for VIRB X/XE action cameras
  • Added easy switching between clips recorded at the same time by automatically detecting and aligning videos that start and end within 4 seconds of each other
  • Added support for adding photos to videos
  • Added photo sharing
  • Added 'bookmark' camera icons in the video editing timeline for photos taken on VIRB X/XE cameras while a video clip was recording
  • Added support for multiple photo/clip selection in the Media Library to make it easier to delete or add multiple photos/clips at once
  • Added support for multiple video selection in the Gallery
  • Added support for gauges and graphs of OBD-II data
  • Added support for gauges displaying HRM-Run's running oscillation and stance time data
  • Playback now stops at final frame. Playing from this point restarts the video from the beginning.
  • Fixed compass 'bearing' gauges spinning while stopped
  • Fixed various G-Metrix alignment issues
  • Fixed various issue for users with non-standard characters in their user name.
  • 1040

    In my case video is coming from a VIRB basic and the GPS data from a Edge Touring Plus. I can't get the video and the GPS to sync at all. When I tried to sync to the first turn about 20 seconds in the GPS was several seconds ahead, maybe as much as 20 seconds. When I tried syncing to a point in the middle of the video the gauges just stopped working and nothing I did would get the gauges or the GPS working.

    I'm back on 2.9.2 now until this is confirmed fixed.

    Where can I get older versions of VIRB? I didn't store 2.9.2. Only install and now it is overwritten with the 3.0.1.

    Inital findings VIRB Edit 3.0.1

    Hi All,

    I had to finish some other projects so I switched a bit late to see the new features in 3.0.1
    In general looks and feel are improved trimming clips is better now.

      Syncing multiple clips has become worse, I cannot move the red dot on the map anymore to get close the correct position, using the slider is to fast and using the arrow is to slow.
      Sync multiple clips is cumbersome, I stick with my old method find the delta between GPX (from dakota 20) and clips (VIRB basic) and shift the GPX by the delta using GPSBabel.

      Since I have a VIRB basic unit I have to link a clip with the g-matrix GPX file from my Dakota 20, it takes at least 5 mouse clicks for each individual clip to link the data, it would be very usefull to be able to select multiple clips and link them all to the same GPX file, I have not yet found this feature or it is not there.

      While editing gauges and saving the gauge is not updated on the fly in the preview movie window, this was the case in version 2.9.1 (stable version I used), the gauge needs to be loaded again in the preview movie view and the "original" needs to be removed.

    I switched back to 2.9.1

    3.01 Overlays not working with data from Virb elite or Edge 800

    This new update is a nightmare.:mad:

    The previous version (not sure which one) I had trouble finishing larger files. I went for a cycle today, used my Edge 800 and the Virb Elite, downloaded the video and data to the Virb edit software (while using an older version) and played the footage, all worked fine. Saw there was an update so installed it, now the overlays aren't working. All I'm really looking for is the speed, with the virb data I get nothing (this was fine before update), I tried adding in the edge data and the MPH counts up from .1mph like its a counter.

    How can I roll back to a previous version, if I follow a link on here it just takes me to the 3.01 version.

    Thanks

    Andy

    ****** I found the 2.9.2 exe on my computer, reverted back and all the data is working again with the video... For me using the Virb elite version 3.01 is not fit for purpose so I'll be sticking with 2.9.2

    On 3.01 looking at the data files, it says what data was available and even in older files none of them had speed.
  • I also upgraded to 3.0.1 on WIndows 7 x64 but now the virb edit crashes every minute with the following exception:

    Anwendung: VirbEdit.exe
    Frameworkversion: v4.0.30319
    Beschreibung: Der Prozess wurde aufgrund eines Ausnahmefehlers beendet.
    Ausnahmeinformationen: System.NullReferenceException
    Stapel:
    bei System.Runtime.CompilerServices.AsyncMethodBuilderCore.<ThrowAsync>b__5(System.Object)
    bei System.Threading.QueueUserWorkItemCallback.WaitCallback_Context(System.Object)
    bei System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunInternal(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean)
    bei System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean)
    bei System.Threading.QueueUserWorkItemCallback.System.Threading.IThreadPoolWorkItem.ExecuteWorkItem()
    bei System.Threading.ThreadPoolWorkQueue.Dispatch()
    bei System.Threading._ThreadPoolWaitCallback.PerformWaitCallback()

    This version is useless for me.
