I got a message telling me I needed Directx 10+ even though I'm using Windows 8.1 which should have 11.2.

I checked with our installer engineer and he pointed out that just because you have Windows 8.1, doesn't mean that your card supports DirectX 11.

If you send us your setup logs, we can take a closer look. They can be found at %appdata%\Garmin\WebUpdate\SetupLog.txt. (Just copy that line into File Explorer.) You can even take a look at the file yourself, it will tell you which DirectX version we detected.

I got the same message, checked the log and saw this line

The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Temp\dxv.xml' because it is being used by another process.

however I was able to open the xml in that path on a notepad... and the xml reads: <DirectXVersion>DirectX 11</DirectXVersion>

Exactly the same for me, DirectXVersion>DirectX 11</DirectXVersion.

    Thanks for checking.

However, are looking at the tag for the installed version of DirectX not the version the video card supports. That one is in the DDIVersion tag.

The easiest way to check is by using dxdiag. Hit the Windows key, type 'dxdiag' (without quotes) and hit Enter. Then go to the display tag and check feature levels.

Right, I'm even more confused now.
NVIDEA system information tells me DirectX Runtime version: 11.0
But DirectX Diagnostic Tool shows Feature Levels: 10.0, 9.3, 9.2, 9.1

    BTW Re:

It appears to be Windows key + R on Windows 8.1

The good news is it sounds like you do have 10 support for sure. :)

And Win+R is probably the better thing to use, thanks!

But it works fine for me with without the + R on Win 8.1.

Thanks! That certainly looks like DX11 is supported. I'll forward this to the right people and we'll investigate.
