VIRB Edit 2.9.2 can be downloaded at http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591.

It's a short change history:

  • Restored default template when creating a new video or playing a clip.
  • Fixed export issues caused by running out of memory.

2.9.1 unfortunately had some export/playback issues. This version should fix these, and will hopefully make it much more likely for export to succeed.
  • After finishing some projects with 2.9.1 I just upgraded to 2.9.2. same issue as described by JBADILLA, it introduced an issue with the graphs an other gauges showing not the data of the entire video but resets with each new clip and only showing data of the individual clip, how can I get back to 2.9.1 worked stable and fine for me.

you can download the previous installer over here: http://gawisp.com/perry/virb/, unistall 2.9.2, and install 2.9.1
I went back to 2.8 since 2.9.1 would not finish a video export for me.

  • Overlay workaround

Thanks for the workaround for the phantom overlays, Reyntest. This problem was driving me crazy.

Sorry for the inconvenience 57DIBBS, please use the below workaround until this issue has been fixed

When you're ready to export your project without Gauges please perform the following work around:

    1. On the Edit Tab select the Add GPS button
    2. Add any fit or gpx file, it doesn't have to be associated with the clip (if you don't have one you can find one via Google)
    3. Select the Overlays tab
    4. Select the Template called "None"
    5. Select the Edit Tab
    6. Select the Remove button
    7. Export your Video

I created a video with my Virb (so no sensor/GPS data) Virb Edit doesn't give me any options for gauges (that's OK I don't want any).

Please note, you don't have access to gauges if your videos don't have GPS info (gpx or fit). If your VIRB doesn't support gps info (VIRB Basic) you can use a fit file from another device (example: Edge 810).

Video demoing the steps can be found here

Anyone else unable to add iTunes music on a PC using this latest update? I can do it on a MacBook but when using a PC and locating the artist and album file there are no files/songs shown at all.

Plus playback is choppy regardless of what setting I used on the Virb to record the video. My PC and it's video card is well above the minimum standards discussed earlier here. Same problem on my MacBook, choppy playback but at least I can add music from iTunes.

    Garmin, please fix this.
  • I'm proposing future improvements of VirbEdit:
    1. Implementing CUDA (NVCUVENC and NVENC) support! Think, what a great customer crowd could You impress with that feature !
    2. Mentioned somewhere in forum implementing Openstreetmap overlay! The track overlay would have sense at least!
    Cheers
  • I have just returned to using my Virb after several weeks.

I have remembered that I can not successfully export a video.

Sometimes (very rarely it works), but the majority of times it fails.

When I tried this time, it got to around 80% with everything seeming to work, high CPU, output file being generated. Then all of a sudden the CPU usage dropped to nothing, the percentage counter stopped increasing (but the export dialog was still there). I left it for 10 minutes, but nothing progressed/changed.

I checked the export log and it showed no error for the time it stopped/hung.

So basically Virb Edit is usable for me :(

Do we have an ETA on a fix (I believe there was a rumour of a fix in the next release)?

    Thanks,

    J.
