I don't but the developers probably will.
You can try to find the error log.
It is in a hidden folder C:\Users\peter\AppData\Local\Temp\VirbEdit\2.7.1\
They may want you to send it for investigation.
Meanwhile you can check this page https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?74042-VIRB-Edit-does-not-export-my-videos-What-do-I-do&p=258192#post258192 maybe your virusscanner doesn't like VIRB Edit.
On that page are also instructions where to send your log file to.
None of the above is any help at all, I am running the newest version and I am using VIRB videos only, I swear!

Try another export, then locate the following folder on your hard-drive: C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Temp\VirbEdit\{Latest Version of VIRB Edit}. For me, currently running 2.6.2 this would be C:\Users\FALAGAR\AppData\Local\Temp\VirbEdit\2.6.2 .

There should be at least one file in there named something like: ExportLog1392221853.txt.log. Send an email to "][email protected], attach the log file(s) and let us know what kind of computer you are trying to use VIRB Edit with.

We are interested in:

• Is it a Laptop or a Desktop?
• Give us the model name if you can. (Something like "Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro", or "Dell Optiplex 990".)
• How much RAM does your computer have?
• What CPU does it have?
• What GPU (graphics card) does it have and how much memory does that card have?

OK, that's official: 2.7.1 doesn't work either. Same crashes as soon as I try to edit a project.
I go back to 2.3.2 again and wait for a new fix.

Giovanni,

we did receive your files and we will investigate what's going on, we just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I apologize for the trouble.

I am running Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, with 4 GB of memory. GeForce 7950 graphics card. Got the Garmin Virb Elite, which is running the newest firmware.

What happens, is I open VIRB Edit. Go to preview the video, before I even try to edit it and get a black screen where the video should be. Can still hear the sound. If I try to edit a video (not much point), since I can't see anything. It Just crashes, no error message.

Need any more info?

I apologize for the trouble.

The log files that Peter mentions would definitely be helpful.

Out of curiosity, how many clips do you have in your library?

Just updated to 2.7.1 on Win7 64 16GB with fresh warranty replaced Elite from factory.

Did a quick collection of 30 clips today, of which only 7 .FIT files generated upon import. Manual .GPX selection works for all 30 tracks, but it's horribly annoying. Moreover, without selecting manually, the 30 clips are selecting randomly from the 7 "successful" FIT conversions when each clip is added to a project. Very bizarre.

I verified the above checking appdata/roaming/garmin/virbedit/database/2/fit. To boot, the timestamp date and time of each FIT is wildly incorrect (spanning a number of days, when all 30 clips were collected inside an hour).

Please advise or provide reversion link to previous version.

Thx.

Thank you for your feedback. I am little bit unsure what the issue is you are describing.

So let's make sure we are on the same page.

If you import from a VIRB Elite, each clip should have 2 GPS files associated with them. The GPX file and a FIT file. We use data from both to get the most out of what the Elite collects. Things like acceleration are only in the GPX file, while we have better speed data in the FIT file for example. The FIT file also allows us to display data spanning several clips (like duration, elapsed time, or graphs).

It is expected to have less .FIT files than .GPX files. .FIT files get generated per power cycle, .GPX files get generated per recording. We don't randomly select the .FIT file, we try to select the one that aligns with the correct time-stamp.

So when you import your clips using 'Import All' or 'Import Selection' in VIRB Edit, what is the issue you are seeing?

I imported 75 clips with "import all", created a new project and after dragging/dropping any given clip into the project, the wrong gps track is loaded. If I then attempt to change the track manually by using the "replace" function in the bottom right corner of the edit screen, only 22 of the 75 tracks appear in the clip library. I should also note the time stamp of each gps track is also incorrect in this library (despite being correct in the camera's GPX & DCIM folders). Clearly there is an issue with the import.

Furthermore, I only care about geolocation, not acceleration or any other metadata. Please advise. Thank you.

I just figured out the issue, but don't know how to fix it. It seems the edit software doesn't like the duplicate file names created by the camera. To clarify, in the camera's DCIM folder there are 5 subfolders (in my case labeled 106_VIRB to 111_VIRB), each containing clips numbered virb0001 through virb00022 (some have less than 22). Upon import (using either import all or selection), despite windows re-labeling each duplicate as virb0001(1), virb0001(2),...,virb0001(5), only the most recent track associated with all root virb0001 files (virb0001(5) in this case) will display for every other instance of the same root, virb0001.

I attempted to remove all instances of my first import by removing all .FIT and video files, and then importing only a single virb0001 file, however, despite omitting all duplicates, for some reason every FIT file for all videos on the camera were imported again and the problem persisted. I also attempted to rename the file on the camera and then re-import again, however, once I did this no link could be made with any gps track by default.

Is there a workaround for this? Let me know if more clarification is needed.

Thanks.

What I'd do is remove your current database and start over. The database is at C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database. Delete or rename that folder.

Then try VIRB Edit 2.8. We hope to have this issue fixed in that version.

Please let us know if we haven't. With your description this should be fairly easy to reproduce and fix for 2.9.

Thank you for your patience.

.... this should be fairly easy to ..... fix for 2.9. .....

The use of duplicate file names in multiple folders on the VIRB is the source of other problems outside of VIRB Edit (i.e. file management on my PC). Is there a solid reason for this or could Garmin change the camera to meet the usual method of numbering EVERY file sequentially?
Thanks.
