Hi there,

I'm having lots of problems with Virb Edit software on my computer.
Videos do'nt show just black screen and sound. Also the gauges don't show up in the bottem of the screen only small/medium/big text the rest remains a solid black background.

On my other notebook I'm not having any problems, but this system is really not ideal for editing and exporting video files.

I've tried reinstalling, uninstalling al kinds of video software. Uninstalling video drivers, reinstalling different versions of AMD drivers etc. to no avail.

System config:

Operating system: Windows 7 ultimate x64
Videocard: 4096 MB AMD Radeon HD 8970M
Processor: Intel Core i7-4700MQ

I'm thinking about a clean install, but only when its likely the problem will be solved.

Will this fix the problem? Or is there another fix for this problem??

Kind regards,

Karsten

Hi - I am a Virb newbie and not familiar with the Forum either - this is no so much a reply as a plea for help. I have the same issue with a brand new Windows 7 computer - all drivers updated and running 16KB RAM and Quad-core processors - I do not want to have to upgrade to Windows 8. The Virb unit appears to be functional and I have paired with phone as remote and Wifi - no issues. The library shows the first frame of the video, but upon play back it is just a black screen - there is GPS data as the Map appears and the red-button marker moves, none of the metrics function: no speed, no time and no direction (always north). I can view the MP4 files in other video programmes, VLC, Media Player etc. I have updated the k-lite codecs mega pack, updated the graphics card drivers (latest support 11/19/12 ??) - this has 1GB memory card. Any suggestions to get Virb Edit to playback my Video clips? I am using Virb Elite SW 3.9 and the Virb Edit 2.7.0.0

What kind of graphics card are you using, there are still problems with some types.
I also heard that sometimes changing the "Anisotropic" (graphics card) settings will help.

The date of the latest graphics card driver update seems too old. Did you check with the manufacturer of the graphics card?

Thanks for getting back to me. The Computer directory informs me that the Graphics Device is a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 - and when I look on the NVIDIA site for the latest driver this is dated September 2014 BUT when it is downloaded, advising that I have the latest updated version 340.84, the installation fails to run each time as it cannot find the necessary component. As I say checking the directory advises the NVS 285, then I looked to see which version of the Device Driver was currently installed/running and this states that it is the 307.45. So I looked for any updates for this on the NVIDIA site - and that is where the latest driver I have 19.11.2012 came from - when looking at which Graphics Cards this supports, it is described as the being the Quadro NOTEBOOK release and specifically does not include support for the Quadro NVS 285. I am guessing that this is perhaps the issue, but I do not know what to do to rectify the situation - I have tried a system restore, but it seems that the original 'update' for the Graphics Card was the 307.45.. any advice?

Thanks for looking at this, the Graphics Card is a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 but the Device Driver installed with it is a NOTEBOOK specific driver 307.45 - when I have gone to the NVIDIA site to obtain the latest Driver for this Card it advises the use of Device Driver 340.84, recently updated in September 2014 - but the download starts to run and first checks for compatibility, only to fail each time advising that there is no compliant component. The Driver on the machine is the 307.45, which the NVIDIA web site advises is NOT associated with the supported product NVS 285 - I hope that this makes sense. It is as though the Graphics Card is saying it is one thing, but operating from a completely different set of Drivers - could this be a case of installing a cheaper Graphics Card (notebook) and just 're-naming' it - I am confused...
  • I've the same issue
Some months ago it worked fine, now I could see overlays in Virb Edit but they disappear in the output video.
My computer hasn't got any change except for the windows update changes, it's in high performance mode, runs VIRB Edit 2.8 on Windows 7 and has an Intel Core i5 2.9 GHz, an AMD Radeon HD 6650 (1Gb VRAM) and 8 Gb DDR3 RAM
