Virb Edit not showing video on notebook. Also the overlay gauges cant be seen.

Hi there,

I'm having lots of problems with Virb Edit software on my computer.
Videos do'nt show just black screen and sound. Also the gauges don't show up in the bottem of the screen only small/medium/big text the rest remains a solid black background.

On my other notebook I'm not having any problems, but this system is really not ideal for editing and exporting video files.

I've tried reinstalling, uninstalling al kinds of video software. Uninstalling video drivers, reinstalling different versions of AMD drivers etc. to no avail.

System config:

Operating system: Windows 7 ultimate x64
Videocard: 4096 MB AMD Radeon HD 8970M
Processor: Intel Core i7-4700MQ

I'm thinking about a clean install, but only when its likely the problem will be solved.

Will this fix the problem? Or is there another fix for this problem??

Maybe there is more than one problem.
I can't help you with the video part, although there are posts (if they are not already been removed) that suggested in some cases the video settings were to blame.
Something with the Anistropic settings.

For the gauges not showing up, the cause maybe the lack of GPS data.
No GPS data, no overlay, no gauges.
To test this you could try to add GPS-data to your video, or import clips from a VIRB Elite that had it's GPS on during recording.

I added a screen shot.

This is what I mean. The gauges dont show at all on the screen.

So clearly you have a clip with GPS data, the overlay tab is showing but the gauges are not showing and so is the video.
Sorry can't help you, probably a app. developer can.

What kind of computer do you have? Laptop? Desktop? What graphics card?

These are the specs of the notebook.

Tried yesterday a total removal of all the video drivers (Intel&AMD) and reinstalling. This had no effect. Still the same issue.

Sorry, I missed that you posted that on top already. Is your notebook plugged in when you are trying to use VIRB Edit? We do have some issues with laptops running on battery (and therefore usually in power-save mode).

We've made a ton of improvements in 2.7, which should be out soon. Please report back if it's still not working for you.

Hi there,

The notebook was plugged in. I also tried forcing Virb Edit to use the AMD card in stead of the build in intel graphics and the other way around. This did not work as wel.

I will wait for 2.70 and give it a go.
If it still does not work I will try a clean windows install as a last resort.

Rendering movies on my old notebook is good patience training :)
But quicker is always better !!

It didn't help for the problems in Win7. I did see the gauges this time but still no video.

So I did a clean install of windows 8.1. Now everything works fine.
