error playing video.

Afternoon all,

Got my VIRB Elite a few days ago and have taken a few short videos and imported into VIRB Edit, each one (short or long) gets the same "error playing video" message. VIRB Edit appears to freeze, though it will eventually shut down.

I have a Toshiba Protégé R835-P84 with an Intel Core i5 processor running Windows 8.1 64 bit with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card.

The computer originally came with Windows 7.

I can play the videos on the camera or outside of VIRB Edit.

Videos appear to import without a problem and are shown within VIRB Edit (the first frame) but none will play.

I have updated the graphics drivers to the latest version to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I had high hoped for this camera for cycling and sailing, but if I can't view or edit the videos!

Make sure you are running the latest version (currently 2.4.1) and make sure your graphics card drivers are up-to-date.

The Intel HD 3000 is a very low-end card, so it's possible that it might just not work. We did make some improvements in 2.4, and will continue to work on supporting all kinds of hardware.

Running 2.4.0.0 which is current version?
Video drivers are up to date.
If I go to the video folder, I can play the videos using the standard windows player "video"
So t'would seem that it is a VIRB Edit problem? As mentioned, Edit does freeze when I try to play the videos.
Any suggestions appreciated, really didn't appreciate I'd need a new laptop for this.
I was really excited about the data overlays for cycling (particularly now that power has been added), but if I can't get this sorted, I'll have to get a Go Pro instead.

2.4.0 is the current version, I apologize.

It is a VIRB Edit problem, yes. We'll hope to address this in a later version.

Can you export the video? You won't be able to preview, but at least you can get the data overlays that way and use a different program (Movie Maker?) to edit your clips.

OK, that seems to work, got the speed data, will try out on the bike later, hope to pull in cadence, as well as power, thanks.

Put in a good word with the development team for me, would be great to do this all in one place,

Will be racing in the Rolex Regatta this weekend and want to use it on the boat also - any sign of an Ant+ wind gauge in the future?

We'll definitely keep working on playback improvements.

I'll take a look into what it would take to get wind gauges.

Just noticed something, not sure if it relevant.

Deleted all of my existing imported videos and got the welcome screen with the Garmin VIRB intro Video, this video played perfectly?

Yeah, if there are no videos in VIRB Edit we display the Welcome screen. So if you delete all yours, you will see it again if you re-start the app.

But my question is, why does the garmin welcome video play correctly, yet my recorded videos not?
