Garmin Edge 810 Data with Garmin Virb

Anyone have problems importing the .FIT files with Garmin Virb videos?
I have problems synchronise the data with the video.
The final adjust on my video shows that my cycling has stop and km/h is approaching zero but then the km/h started to move first before my cycling start.
How does this happen?
Even if I didn't sync well, it should be cycling start first then km/h start a little later.
Anyone has solved this problem?
  • I have not solved this problem.

They recommend you set your time before each ride, although at best you might be within a second of whatever the Edge thinks it is.

In another post I recommended they have the Edge broadcast the time over ant+ so the Virb could be in sync with that. Even if they can do that, I am sure it will be a while before they get that through QA etc.

You want real frustration, throw on power meter data and watch it go up while you hear the freewheel! I played for hours one night, inching it back and forth to where I thought I got it just right, then after trimming, it went back to all wrong. I have sort of given up on the dream of having data match. :(
  • There must be something wrong, I tried syncing my Edge 800 fit file with footage from the Virb Elite and they are off by 5-10 seconds. Two devices which times are set with gps at the same location can't be this much non synced.

This may be a dumb question, but how do you sync the Virb video and the GPS data? Is it just going by frames for a start point with the "adjust button"? That seems to be a really inaccurate way to do it -- especially if you are in a long ride in the woods and the video is in segments (hard to look at the map and say, "that's the tree I passed when this clip started.").

Judging by this thread, it's not much (if any) better with the Virb Elite?

With the basic VIRB, that the way it's done.
The VIRB Elite has a GPS reciever and sync is done automaticly.
However there is still a feature request about having a long track with only some parts of video.
How videos are synced in that case remains a question until the feature request is honored.
Here is an example of where the track was automaticly synced (as it was imported from the VIRB Elite by VIRB Edit).
The video contains several pieces each having it's own track.
When your video is split by the VIRB Elite and the files are imported, VIRB Edit will recognise the split video (using the .fit file) and put the tracks together as one track.

The camera was mounted on top of my helmet.

Thanks. So is the speed, cadence, other ANT+ data also automatically synced with the Elite?

I think you need to connect the sensors with the Elite using ANT+ but I don't have them and can't test it.
The english "Owner's Manual" of the Elite describes on page 7 how to connect your sensors to an Elite.

any timeframe on this? ive got a 1hr+ video with a complete track (from my 810 & virb elite recording) but when i delete parts of the video to trim down the length it takes away those parts of the track...

would export and use dashware to complete but it wont export a >4gb file.
