Two days editing a video - went to export, crashed and now saying moved or deleted

I am trying to be patient with this, I really am. Given the issues I have waited for a few months since buying the camera to edit anything other than test clips.
I edited a series of clips into a video using windows 7 on an I5 intel machine. edited ok, added music, played the 20min final cut a few times through Virb edit. All looked good. Slightly wary after previous attempts with the earlier edit versions I went to export to file.

it sat for a while doing nothing, thought it must be thinking about it before the progress bar would start moving.

Instead it came up virb edit has stopped functioning and will close.

re-booted the machine afterwards just in case. Now when I open edit it shows the video in the list, open it to edit and all the clips and music are on the bar but when the complete video or individual clips are clicked it says this file has been deleted or moved.

The originals are still there and play but I have wasted 2 days doing this and cannot face it again or have the time.

So much promise, but so much disappointment with this camera.

just a wild guess...Did you have your camera connected to your PC while putting the movie together and was it disconnected before export?

I had down loaded the clips into virb edit a few days before. The camera wasn't connected while I was editing. The original clips are all there.

Not sure where the data is saved for a created video prior to export? it must still exist in some form as shows in the list of creations and all the clip icon are in the bar with the clip lengths etc. they just wont play anymore, the movie window in the top left above the bar just says the file has been moved or deleted.

@NAVYTHOMAS8 you're welcome, I'm just keeping myself busy solving problems/puzzles... it becomes a habit/addiction when doing it as a profession in a totally different field (sheet metal).

    the data is saved here:
    C:\Users\{replace with username}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\2\

PS, the destination folder for the export has no file (other than a few earlier ones where I did manage to export short clips using edit2.2) so the crash happened prior to any writing to file.

just made the directories \MovieProjects and \RawMovies empty to delete all from VIRB-Edit.
In these directories you can find thumbnails that give a clue about what movie/clip is in there.
In the .XML file (open it with notepad) you can read where it expects the clip/movie to be.
Maybe there is a difference between what it expects and the real location.

Thanks, I have found the files named similar to a MAC address. There are few from earlier dates which I assume are existing or previous creations / failed exports.

There are two for today. Not sure why, one contains a thumbnail folder, a PHG image, a VET file and a XML file. The other has an MP3 file, thumbnails and XML but no VET or PHG. As this one is an hour older I guess this is the creation and the later the attempted export?

This is from the XML contained in the earlier folder which has the MP3 also. It repeats for each clip. I don't understand enough to work it out but assume this references the original clip and which sections to use along with speed etc? Any suggestions how to restore it?
