export issue

Hi I tried to export a video to a file (1080) and then to youtube using the export feature. Once it reached 100%, I got a similar error message in both cases:
- During export to file:
"There was an error exporting the video"

- During export to youtube:
"Error exporting video for youtube upload"

An idea on how to solve this?

Tks

    Thanks, I saw the email.

Uploading is a 2-step process. 1st step is preparing the video (which exports to a temp file), step 2 is actually uploading it.

You can always just export the video and upload it to YouTube manually via their website, if you prefer that.
  • Nice find, I'd tried reencoding the video several ways but no luck. I suppose the audio can be muxed back in with avidemux possibly? Will try that when the export is done.

So that's what I ended up doing, exporting with no audio (adding the audio as an mp3 under "music" doesn't work either) and then remuxing the audio with MP4Box GUI (avidemux doesn't do it).

One thing I noticed is that even if you adjust the track and video properly, if the video starts before the track does (a 10k race in this case), then in the exported file both will start at the same time and therefore be misaligned. Not sure what would happen the other way round? The only workaround I found was to trim the video to make it start with the track so some good footage is lost. Looks like a bug?

You could try to split your video at the point where the track starts.
Than you would have a clip without a track and a clip starting at the same point the track starts.
  • Thanks, I hadn't used the split feature yet. I tried it but it seems to allocate the track to both sections, including the one with no data, maybe it needs to be shifted again...

    Just tested it...
When you split a clip and add a track to one part it is also added to the other.
When you import a clip twice, having different names, the track is only added to one clip.
However the overlay is added to both clips, even to the one without data.
You can turn overlays off,BUT only on clips that have GPS-data, so you have to add some data to the clip you don't want an overlay !
    The solution:
Import the clip and make a video of it.
Add the track. (GPS data is added to the complete clip)
Adjust the video so the track starts where it should start.
Now with the video slider go to the point that the locationmarker on the map just turns red (too early it's black).
    On this location press "split".
Now you have two clips, both with GPS data, the second beginning at the start of the track.
Go to the first clip and click on "Data Overlays" so the green background turns grey (button just below "Adjust,Replace,Remove") and the overlay disappears from the clip.
The second clip still has the overlay and the track (and other GPS data)

Yeah i know it's a 2-step process, but this time it was 3-step.. as i told, it uploaded the video to youtube 2 times.. it uploaded to tube 100% and started over, processing took about 2 hours and 2x to youtube a bit over 5 hours.. :P

since it got to the youtube in the end, i hope it was a one time bug..

We do retry YouTube uploads in case it fails. So that was most likely what you were seeing.

Hi, I am also suffering from video exporting.
I have a garmin virb, before last update I was almost not able to extract the videos, I was always getting error messages.
Now it starts to export process but it never finishes. It stucks at 100%. I even left the computer open over-night 3-4 times but export process does not finish.

I do not want to be emotional but I am really tired of this software. It takes more time to try to export it even than the event itself.
By the way, I also have an edge 810 and I am combining GPS data and videos. Before last update I was able see map data but now I cannot see map data and I cannot adjust video location.
I tried both Google or Nokia Maps.

I am attaching some screen shots also system information below, I hope someone can help me.
Currently I am just trying to edit my videos with Windows Movie Maker and it is really painful for HD size videos as well as missing GPS datas.

I also tried to remove GPS data from the video and error message came back and I even could not start exporting.
