export issue

Hi I tried to export a video to a file (1080) and then to youtube using the export feature. Once it reached 100%, I got a similar error message in both cases:
- During export to file:
"There was an error exporting the video"

- During export to youtube:
"Error exporting video for youtube upload"

An idea on how to solve this?

Tks

The export debug logs are at C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Temp\VirbEdit\{VERSION}.

2.3.2 will be out very soon.

Yes, please try the new version.
  • I am unable to export even a short 16 second video, the video is coming from a samsung mobile phone, I import this 1280x720 mp4 into My Library, I drag it into a new Video,
I am able to play the video in Virb Edit
I select Export Video to MP4 to 480p Resolution, Then click on Export, and I get a Generic "There was an error exporting the video"
I am using a HP pavilion dm1 laptop with AMD E-350 Processor, 3 Gb RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics with the latest amd catalyst software and drivers just updated (december drivers)
Can I check on some log location as to the source of this export error?

    Using Virb Edit version 2.3.2

VIRB Edit is built to process videos from VIRB action cameras. The video from your mobile phone is probably using a different codec that VIRB Edit does not handle. We don't put anything into VIRB Edit that would prevent other videos from working, but we also do not test videos from other sources. Some will work, some won't, unfortunately.
  • Might be the first question to ask if someone's reporting Export problems.

1: Are you working with VIRB camera footage?
  • It would not hurt to throw a warning when importing non virb codec videos that might not export later, what comes as confusing is that this videos are imported ok in the library, I am able to edit the videos, add overlays, split, trim and playback them on Virb Edit without issue. It is only when exporting that I get the error.
I can see the reason behind the tie between Virb Edit and Virb footage but once in a while some additional footage coming from other device might be required to be added into a specific video edit and in those cases Virb Edit would not be suitable for a complete edit.

Using version 2.3.2 I was able to export a 1 hour Virb 720p video without crash. Thanks for the bug fix.

EDIT: still not always working. On the second try with a Virb 480p file export Virb Edit has stopped working and crashed (Win7 x64 SP1, 32 GB RAM, i7 3770K, M4 256 GB SSD).

Point well taken. We can see if we can do something of that sort.

Well, some progress at least. :) When you say crash, what does that mean exactly? Does it just fail to export with a regular error message? Do you get an error report dialog?

Also, when it fails are you trying to export videos with more than 1 clip in them? Have you ever had a failure with videos containing just 1 clip in 2.3.2?
