export issue

Hi I tried to export a video to a file (1080) and then to youtube using the export feature. Once it reached 100%, I got a similar error message in both cases:
- During export to file:
"There was an error exporting the video"

- During export to youtube:
"Error exporting video for youtube upload"

An idea on how to solve this?

Tks

Claude
  • I'm having the exact same problems. I can watch the video and can add music, overlays and gps data. All this works fine. The problem arises when I try to export to either my my own library or to You Tube.
In total inc accessories I've spent over £400 on a Virb Elite and am bitterly disappointed. I have many Garmin products and all work fine and upload perfectly to Garmin Connect .
It was on this basis I decided to stay with Garnin for my filming my cycle rides and I am gutted at this problem.
I'm using the latest 2.2 - can anyone point me in the right direction to at least being able to plead to you tube? When I try that the error message from you tube tells me I'm trying to upload an incorrect format.

Trevor, I am very sorry about the trouble. We will have a new version out very soon that will hopefully fix export for you.

You should just be able to upload your video directly from you camera to YouTube in mean time (without overlays, naturally). https://www.youtube.com/upload
  • Hi, thank you for fast answer. Previous clip I tried was 3:40 something. I now tried a 8 seconds clip which worked. One more thing on a total different subject - I filmed during a ski trip and the tracks in snow gets very skewed in places, looks very strange - any idea if a software update will come to fix this?

It sounded like you are using a Mac from your answer in a different thread?

I am not sure about their schedule, but they are working on it.

I'm using PC and now 2.3.1 can export only small videos. Could you give me older one (2.2.5) till you announce new? With 2.2.5 I was able to export video ~ 50 min long.

This is hard to say without seeing the actual files.

What kind of project is it? Are you adding several clips into one video? Using slow-motion / speed-up? Adding music? Using overlays?

VIRB Edit 2.2 should ship in November and I'd like you to try that one and see if it fixes things.

I apologize for not being able to assist you better.

Sorry for grabbing an old post but this describes exactly the problem I am now having. Once I changed the speed of all clips back to normal I was able to upload just fine. Virb Edit 2.3.1

    You have a PM.

Hi Falagar - I have managed to upload a short clip to you tube (3 mins)

I then tried to trim a video (less than3 mins)and upload directly but with no luck. Is it still not possible to upload trimmed clips? I hadn't used any overlays either

Is it not possible to upload any overlays?

I'm happy to communicate via pm if that suits.

    Thanks

    Trevor,

exporting trimmed videos and videos with overlays should be possible. But it's likely you are running into a bug which we hope we have fixed internally.

We are working on releasing 2.3.2 which from our testing and from feedback we got from a handful of Alpha users looks pretty good.

2.3.2 should be out soon. Once it is, could you give it a try? If 2.3.2 still won't work for you, then I will be very happy to work with you to try to find out what's going on.
