VIRB Edit 4.3.2 will not start

Hi all, wondering if anyone has seen this before. I have just installed Edit v4.3.2 fresh (no previous installations) and it won't start. I don't see a splash screen or any kind of GUI for Edit. All I get is a Windows Event Log that says the following. I think the key takeaway is the file not found error, but of course it doesn't say what file it's looking for.

Application: VirbEdit.exe

I have the same issue and the suggested solution did not work. I am not very happy - I spent a lot of money to buy this actioncam for the g-metrix and now I do not have a tool to edit it. Dear Garmin team, please solve this.

Can you copy/paste any errors you see in the Windows Event Viewers?

    1. Repro the issue (attempt to start the app)
    2. Type Event in the Start Menu search text box
    3. Select "Event Viewer" > a Event View popup will display
    4. Expand the "Windows Logs" folder in the left Event Viewer window
    5. Select "Applications" from inside the "Windows Logs" folder
    6. You should see atleast 1 Error at the top of the event list (center of the Event Viewer window). Copy and paste this error please.

    Hey Guys,

It looks like the problem may be with your Windows install. From looking at both log files it looks like the fault is in KERNELBASE.dll, which is a Windows system file.

From doing a google search it looks like other programs have similar behavior when KERNELBASE.dll is either damaged or corrupted. Can you guys try this:

    1. Make sure your Video Card Drivers are updated
    2. Run this Windows System File checker and see if it fixes the issue for you guys

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files

    Thanks
  • I did it, but I have message as windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations. I uninstall viredit 4.2.3, and install virbedit360, then program was working normal except g-metrix, becouse program looking for the GPX file, and my is GLV file. However, I did update and after that, again same situation..program no start. (sorry for my English language)

    Hi All,

So there is a work around that may work for everyone.

The good news is VIRB Edit should start and you can use it.

The bad news is you won't be able to access your previously imported clips and created videos.

    Work Around Steps:
    1. Navigate to C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Garmin
    2. Rename the "Video Edit" folder (ie: name it to VIRB EditB)
    3. Start VIRB Edit

Once a fix has been released you should just have to rename the VIRB EditB folder back to be able to access all your previouse content.

I did it, but no any result. Any way, I find that that folder all ready with name virb edit. Really disappoint me too much.
  • Use the 3.6.0 version, it is the most stable and with less hassle.
I tried dozens of times with later versions but the telemetry were not aligned, then were slow, then sfasavano video ... torture ...
Giving up some function but with the 3.6.0 solve everything.
  • Ok, problem solved. After persistently windows update..update..update, program working with no problem. My laptop did not automatic update windows as what I mean. Remain to fix g - metrix. G - metrix from camera ( virb xe ) is GLV file, but program asking for GPX. Mayby I have update camera from Garmin web.
