VIRB Edit 3.4.2 is available

why would i bother to update, every version since I started with this has gone backwards.

when i first had a virb elite and 801 it worked okay

now just a great big waste of time

i dont understand how a company can operate like this

Our small team is working extremely hard to improve VIRB Edit and we have gone a long way. VIRB Edit 3.4 has quite a few more features than 2.x; and our analytics data is looking promising as well. VIRB Edit 3.4.2 is the most stable version and has the lowest export failure rate to date.

There certainly have been set-backs, we are taking them very seriously and strive to address them quickly.

I understand the need to rant and I know how frustrating it is when software doesn't do what it needs to do. Please let me know what kind of issues you are running into specifically, and we will try to address them as best we can.

Compared with the very early versions of Virb Edit the the latest versions are a huge improvement, my main gripe now is the speed of export, but that may well be a function of my hardware.

I can fully confirm Falagar. This is the only section, where you will be heard and the developers really listen to our requests.
Off course not every wish can be realized.

There are a lot of improvements done in the last versions. I also got some issues in the beginning and this is always a bit frustrating.
But understandable, when you see how much features Edit got. And that it ran on thousands of different devices, with different hardware, operation systems and uncountable more differences.
Currently the latest version is great for me. Beside it is sometimes very slow during the cutting/preview. Leave the editing an reopen it makes the deal. So nothing to complain about :)

Great Improvements

I can second that: The team really does have the correct mindset - it listens and trys to comfort the majority of the users. What to expect more?

I'd like to add two points that may be interesting for versions to come:

• support of Intel's QuickSync hardware encoders (would allow for insane export speed)
  
• rotating: not only 180 ° but also +/-90 °
  

I do a lot of bike videos; to capture the full path (from pedal to horizont) one needs to position the camera upright i. e. rotated (see attached image). If I really want to use overlays in such cases, I'm lost for obvious reasons. :) As this is not everyday's demand, I can perfectly live without a 90 ° option but of course it would be an enrichment.

Yes, I think that, after one or two not very fortunate versions, this version really goes in the right direction.

I appreciate the work of the team. I know that the "Name, fame, of a brand", like Garmin, is many times larger than their teams and human resources.

I am (or i think i am) a intesive user of virb Edit: 1 long cycling video (3-4 hours) for week. When i sit front my pc, there are two things I would like to improve:

1. The export speed. As I said in another post (I do not want to repeat myself), has become much slower since last 2-3 versions.

2. But, for me, more important that 1: The time i use to process of synchronization between video and gpx: When i have to synchronization 8 or 10 videos (seeking perfection, because think is better not to show the speed to show a wrong speed). Maybe in the future it could be implemented batch synchronization video (logically they are streaming videos without interruptions), so synchronizing the first all others are synchronized without having to search an exact point on the map for each one so far.

Using hardware encoders (Intel & others) is definitely planned.
Rotating 90 degrees is not currently on the road-map, but we've definitely gotten that request a few times and would like to make it happen.
Export speed is something we contentiously working on. (We are definitely focusing on reliability first and speed second, but we certainly won't forget about speed).
Syncing improvements are also planned.
