Virb gps data missing after X seconds

I recently purchased a new Virb Elite to replace one I lost, and I'm not sure if the device is defective or if it's the software. Basically, my problem is that the gps data/overlay is there for about 45s to 1 min, but then it completely cuts off and the video plays with no data at all. This happens for both the preview (just clicking on the thumbnail and seeing the default overlays) as well as in the Create Video area with custom overlays. I've tried formatting the SD card, checked all the settings, etc. but it still doesn't work. Should I try anything else before trying a new Virb?

Thanks Paxter1. My commute home:
VirbA: 10 pics, 11 .gpx files. In Edit, only 1 segment of GPS data is displayed.
VirbB: No pics, 1 .gpx file. In Edit, full route is there.

Looks like both cameras are OK and it's software/firmware related.

I just spent two days using my Virb as a Dash Cam, recording video only, and every single one of the tracks is working perfectly. Getting screen caps from the video is better than screwing up the tracks while taking simultaneous pictures, but I hope Garmin fixes this quickly anyway.

I have two GPX files for a ride. I unintentionally took a photo, the GPX split is at that point in the ride.

Yeah, sure would be nice if Garmin fixed this soon. It's been broken since at least August, as I found in my holiday videos taken at the time.

I never take pictures while recording video at the moment, so my tracks work well, but I would still like the option.
