A slight change of plans, as we delve into the reserve footage and some new rides filmed this past season, the Morvan/Barolo route experimental rides are being pulled for now.

  • v3 Dingle 2 (Ireland) - Conor Pass

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. BT.  Downloaded. Morning's weight is 65.7 kg. Average power - 1.93 W/kg.

    Looks good.

Wow! A narrow road on the second climp! And also:

    Total ascend - 844 m.

    Total descent - 859 m.

Minimum Elevation Above Sea Level = -3m

  • V3 Achilll Island 2

What a lovely route. No problems with video synchronisation on ascents/descents. Great quality video.

    A couple of observations:

    • The narrow road seemed to make everything feel "faster". I rode one of the Thailand routes a couple of days ago and that seemed to drag slowly.
    • Camera lean angles adjusted really quickly - no delay in straightening up after bends.
    • The route profile widget (the permanent one above ClimbPro) was showing the gradient down to 1 decimal place. When I did the Thailand route it was only ever showing whole numbers but with a spurious .0  (e,g, 1.0 went to 2.0 but never 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).
    • The ride was categorised as "Easy". I'm not sure that over 400m of ascent, with a climb over 16% fully meets that description but I'd be interested to see what the criteria/cut-offs are.

For the visual differences, we use the same camera but theirs has different settings & i think they solved the lean issue they were having. The recent footage of Thailand is also older footage. I think its the 3rd time we have delved into the stock footage they recorded there.

The grade data difference, this is me, if a ride is flat & its using an Edge (or edges) for data collection, I will run a smoothing filter over the data to remove all the oddities. On Bertha we collect the grade data separately from an inclinometer; this typically does not need any filtering although if its flat I often do, as it picks up G-force changes on all the corners & these are much more obvious if its flat :-)

For the Easy issue...I think this is a recent bug in TacxApps...everything being published is easy now...which is great news if you are easily fooled haha!

  • v4 Rallarvegen 2 (Norway)
Really really nice ride. I loved it! Incredible stunning views!
I loved that the in last 4 KM's the average gradient increases to 6% again. I enjoy finishing the ride on steeper sections.
Some parts of the movie seemed familiar to me. Is that possible?

The first KM's are on gravel and a bit narrow. The video playback seemed very fast. Probably because of the huge difference between virtual speed and the speed it was filmed at?
Road-feel was good. It stopped on the bridges and resumed after having crossed the bridge. I still don't like road-feel on the steep sections as it feels like the trainer is slipping when doing 350-400w. It would be such a great improvement if Tacx would improve this by some kind of dynamic road-feeling, like decreasing the road-feel when the gradient rises>8%.

It was in Beta a few years ago, it never got published so you might have done it then ;-)

I ran it in demo mode yesterday & was thinking to make the few descents a bit more shallow, it's messing with the data a bit, but in real life you're breaking on these tracks... you're not doing 80kph like in TacxApps haha. It's too late now for them to do anything like adding breaking etc.
