ClimbPro widget broken - not displayed

Noticed this on public TDA. After updating to the latest public TDA the climbing widget has changed to "ClimbPro" and it has a bug.

Unfortunately it's not so Pro when following a Challenge. In my case the latest Island Hopping Challenge. Outside the challenge it seems to work fine.
When nearing a climb it does not announce it. When on the climb the widget disappears. See screenshot below. It also does not tell you when you finished the climb.
During the entire ride there's some weird button-looking "Total" at the bottom. It cycles on/off or between <something>(?).

Another annoying but small thing is the "What's new" popup about ClimbPro (or the Never stop cycling) popup.
Does this really have to be shown EVERY time when launching TDA?

  • The "Total" should pop up showing the total distance you've ridden (in this case 2.63) but if that 2.63 was tagged onto the end of a previous ride in the Challenge then it shows the total distance of that ride plus the 2.63.

  • The "Total" should pop up showing the total distance you've ridden

    Ah, that sounds logical.
I've disabled continuous riding in settings so the total is always the same as the total of the current ride. I think it would be more logical that TDA disables the totaling when this option is disabled. It's rather confusing when continuous ride is disabled or when it's the first ride of the "continuous ride"

  • UPDATE: It seems the problem is NOT limited to rides within a Challenge.
Last night I rode a single movie "Smith Trail 1" and experienced the exact same problem.
There was a single KOM in the video and there was no Climb widget. The only thing shown was the gradient.

This time on TDA Beta 4.63.1.52871

  • Completed the 6 Stella Ronda films (not using continue ride)

    Difficulty slider set at 50%.

Stella Ronda 4 was not showing the Climb Widget (enabled in the settings/widgets)

The others (including 1 and 2 before new climb widget) had Climb Widget on screen.

Where are you going to show the ETA for KOM and the Full ride when Climb Widget is on screen ?

    TDA Beta 4.63.1.52871.

  • Another Update:

I finally did a few rides on which the widget was displayed.
Like Dave mentioned, I too am missing the ETA when on a KOM. It would be great if that can be added back again. This helps to set a pace when climbing. I'm also kind of missing the max gradient remaining (with widget set on dynamic mode).

Another small improvement can be made on distance remaining on KOM. It would be nice to show meters remaining when in the final kilometer instead of something like 0.2km remaining.

Another weird thing is the recap after you complete a KOM.
The average power value being displayed is absolute power while it says AVG W/kg (see screenshot below).
The power number itself is also either incorrectly reported being too LOW or too HIGH. In my case of the screenshot below my average power on the KOM was way below the displayed 223W avg.
Last night I did another ride with a KOM at 270W average. The recap showed 300W+ average. These are really big differences.
I'm not sure where TDA calculates this number from.

Note that I'm (dual) recording my numbers with a Garmin Edge (using the lap function on start+end of the KOM) connected to the same external power meter. The avg power numbers over the entire ride are correct.

  • Hi there,

ETA for climbs is now placed as a dynamic data on the top left corner of the ClimbPro widget

  • Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out and apologies for your inconvenience. We found out that on the newest set of films, not all climbs were republished and therefore the widget didn't show up. We are currently working on a solution to republish the climb data automatically when a new film is being published.

  • Hi there,

Indeed, it should be AVG Watt in stead of AVG W/kg. We will change this soon.

Can you please look into the power being displayed at the end of a KOM (climb complete screen)
For example. On the climb shown on the screenshot below I averaged more than 230W. The "Climb complete" shows an average of 97 watts.
This was on public TDA. Recorded with external Quarq powermeter. Continuous ride disabled. Not sure if that makes any difference.

    Where exactly?
Or has this been added to a Beta version which is not available to us yet?

Screenshot as illustration below (Latest public TDA). Top left shows number of climb(s) in video. Should the information on the widget alternate? In my settings Climb Widget is configured as Dynamic. ETA is Enabled. Widget interval 5s.
