New Raid Pyrenees 2024 , Feedback

As the other thread is a bit long, I figured I'd start a new one for testing. This will be dedicated to the first 12 of the 24 stages. The second half will be published after they have completed the server switch sometime in June along with the Corsica & possibly also some from Sardinia.

Stage 1 does start a little early so we do have some very strong sun glare at the very start..it gets better!

Stage 2 - we head away from the main roads & you get to see the mountains grow in size.

Stage 3 - 1st proper HC climb with the Iraty, its steep also,  these amazing green-coloured climbs are not as well known as they should be

Stage 4 - 6 Col du Soudet to the Col de Marie Blanque the 2nd long day of filming in the Spring with the older camera...its going to hurt, but its all very scenic!

Stage 7 - 12 Col d'Aubisque to the Peyresourde.  We skip forward in time to September 2022, starting off from the end of Stage 6, some Autumn colours can be spotted as you climb & we are also now using the newer chicken camera on Bertha...I was using this trip to learn the brand-new camera & I am still learning how best to use it, haha.

The list of KOMs for the first 12 stages—I count 35 KOMs in total—might number them? Perhaps in reverse order?

    RAID21 - Garavel Pass

Still need feedback on the above rides :-) Well done everyone that's doing this monster! The final Stage 24 should be out soon too...

If only we had a progress map! Such a simple feature would have made this thing incredibly addictive, as it is I cant see it being what it was meant to be, but at least its not just sitting on a hard drive haha.

    v5 RAID22 - Col du Jau
    v5 RAID21 - Garabeil

I finished the first two without noticing anything really weird.
On Garabeil I wrote down the start/stops (resistance) wasn't perfect. I will do this one again and pay more attention to it and take better notes.

Stage 24 is not available just yet, or so it seems.
A few sellaronda's have popped up. This should be fun. I remember the old one which was included in two tough challenges to earn real badges.

I agree 100% that a progress map would be awesome. Or at least a score board with % riders completed % of challenge. I still hope that if/when it will get released there will be a 24-stage challenge and not end up divided in multiple challenges.
    Or open multiple challenges like:
Earn 12 points if you complete 24 rides in sequential order in 30 days
Earn 8 points completing 24 rides in 60 days
Earn 4 points completing 24 rides in 90 days

Even if it gets released as rides it's still awesome!!!!

  • v6 RAID18 - Port de Lers

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. Morning's weight is 65,9 kg. Average power - 2.08 W/kg.

It was hard, but I found it.

15.53 km - there is a sharp descent on the video, but the gradient don't show it.

17.62 - visually it seems like a small gradient, but the numbers don't show it.

I plan to complete stages 19-24 by Friday the 13th (December).

  • v7 RAID19 - Ax-les-Thermes

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. Morning's weight is 67.0 kg. Average power - 2.27 W/kg.

I couldn't find anything to complain about.

    All is perfect!

  • v5 RAID20 - Port de Pailheres

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. Morning's weight is 67.0 kg. Average power - 2.48 W/kg.

    Good video. Beautiful weather.
    Notes that can be ignored:
3.2 km - after the turn, a small gradient.
16.03 km - also, but visually a large gradient.

Horses on the climb - finally I saw who did it.

After the summit, a short descent and up again. I would have set the gradient 100 m earlier.

After the finish, the video froze for a few seconds. Perhaps this is due to the program.

P.S. I waved to you too.

  • v5 RAID21 - Garabeil

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. Morning's weight is 67.0 kg. Average power - 2.18 W/kg.

    First 14.56 km. All good!

    Tractor around the corner!Scream

  • v5 RAID21 - Garabeil

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. Morning's weight is 67.0 kg. Average power - 2.18 W/kg.

    First 14.56 km. All good!

    Awesome your almost finished!

  • It would be ideal to repeat the entire route, but now I'm afraid to do it.

  • v6 RAID17 - Col d'Agnes
I saved this gem for later, but now it was time. I thought this film was a single HC climb but it were two separate climbs. Nevertheless this two-stage rocket was fun using the first climb as a warm up before the main course.
The other cyclist going up the climb d'Agnes was a nice bonus. Respect to the people doing it on their mountain bikes. It looked like the last cyclist had some real power in his legs!
I didn't notice any issues with this video.

    v7 RAID24 - Cerbere on the Mediterranean
Great profile! A rewarding final chapter with incredible views(!) before the top of the first climb and during the descend after the second climb. The second climb had some nasty changing gradients. Hard to settle on a nice cadence. This made the stunning views while descending even more rewarding! The pier at the end was a nice finishing touch.
All good - I did not experience any issues.

Those riders on the 2nd climb were a group of Brits doing the Raid for real. I passed them twice but forgot where, but we chatted at the top where there was a cut.

Awesome, if you have all the stages, then you might have accidentally become the very first person ON EARTH (lol) to have ridden the world's longest, almost grade-accurate filmed indoor trainer ride!!  (in the wrong order)
