Downloaded movie issue.

Desktop app will not find downloaded movies, when linked to correct folder, even though it shows the download as complete.

As soon as download is complete I can select play downloaded movie and it says folder not linked. I again link the folder but desktop app does not show any downloaded movies. I can see the movie file folder using explorer but Tacx desktop app cannot run it.

I have uninstalled and re-installed multiple times but same issue.

Seems like I paid $140.00 for an unusable subscription.

  • Thank you for your report. We have fixed this in version 4.54. Could you please let us know if updating solves the problem? Thankyou!

  • I uninstalled and re-installed the application. Application version 4.55.1.0 resolved the download movie issue. I am able to use downloaded movies.
Additional feedback (since this was my first ride using the Garmin Tacx app.)
The Garmin Tacx app is not up to the standards of the other applications. I have been riding Zwift since 2017. I have spent considerable time on Rouvy of late and I have used "mywhoosh".
I use a Garmin Tacx NEO 3M Smart Trainer with a gaming desktop PC and a gaming monitor.

The Garmin Tacx NEO 3M, when used with Zwift and Rouvy, is a really nice ride. (I have ridden a total of 30,000 miles on indoor trainers since 2017 and I have owned a Saris Hammer and a Wahoo Kickr).
The Garmin Tacx NEO 3M performs differently, and not as well, using the Garmin App vice the Zwift or Rouvy app. One of the selling points of the NEO 3M is "2. Simulated Descents". The trainer performs this function well when using the Zwift or the Rouvy app however it does not function in the same manner when using the Garmin App. Riding on the Garmin app the trainer immediately slows, and ride speed begins to decrease, as soon as pedaling ceases even on a 2-3% down grade. On other apps the trainer will coast, similar to a real life ride.
There is also an issue with synchronization between the video and the gpx or topo file. The grade either lags or gets ahead of the video so that you begin a descent feel while still going up the hill on the video.
I will use the Tacx app some more but right now it is 3rd on the list of 4 applications.

What ride were you riding when this happened? All the routes are tested in Beta for things like sync before publishing.  If it ever happens again could you post a screenshot so I can see if its the data or App?

  • Hi @,

It seems there's an issue with the Tacx desktop app not recognizing downloaded movies even after relinking the folder; try accessing the movie directly through the app's URL path to see if that resolves the problem.

  • I ran into the same headache a while back — the Tacx desktop app just wouldn’t recognize the movie files even though they were sitting right there in the folder. What finally worked for me was manually setting a new download directory inside the app settings, then re-downloading one short video to make sure it indexed correctly. After that, I copied my existing downloads into that new folder, restarted the app, and it finally picked them up.

It also helps to double-check that the folder path doesn’t include special characters or cloud-syncing (like OneDrive or Google Drive), since Tacx can be picky about that.
