In the last 10 days or so, I have had start-up issues with version 4.38.0.20988 3 or 4 times. I have not gotten any error messages, but TDA simply crashes back to the desktop during startup. It shows the new small start-up box with the cyclist on a trainer picture and black background, but goes no further. I then start it again and it works okay. I sign in with an email address.
All Ok for me.
Working again , so just down over the weekend..
I have not had a repeat of the start-up crash the last 3 days or so, so perhaps it is gone.
On another note, I have been using streaming videos rather than downloads for at least a month. I am finding the quality to be very high - very close to a downloaded video. About the only difference is some blurriness when I first start the video, but it goes away as the ride continues (I assume the buffer is filling). So, I give this feature pretty high marks right now. I am viewing this on a 48" 4K TV, so quality problems are fairly obvious.
Today when I started Beta TDA, it crashed again. I restarted and it crashed a second time. On the third start, it ran okay.
I subsequently did a ride on TDA public release and did not have an issue. However, next time, for the first start of TDA, I will try the public release to see if it happens.
Since the TDA version with the start logo with the cyclist, I have a problem with the application crashing on startup. It's different. Sometimes the application starts right away, sometimes it crashes once or several times during startup. Maybe it's related to the "MapServiceToken not specified" error on the map view. I have found that this problem is caused by bad licensing of Bing Maps. Only 50 thousand map accesses per day are allowed for certain license types. I tried running the app in the morning when the licenses hadn't been used up and the error didn't show up. In the evening, when I use the application mostly, the error always appears. Garmin should fix this first.
The first time I experienced the app crashing was while riding against one opponent (see article History Opponents causing on screen crash).
The above mentioned errors did not occur on my computer before, before the version of the app the logo with the cyclist. I have this computer only for the trainer and the TDA public release.
Piggy-
A very good description of what I am seeing. You are correct that this started with the "cyclist start logo" version. Have not yet tried the recent beta release 4.39.1.22353 to see if things change. This is the kind of intermittent bug that can be hard to reproduce.
Interesting observation about Bing licensing, which I have not seen.
Also, I noticed that when I completed a TDA ride yesterday, it showed an incorrect date for the ride. It appeared to be in GMT time rather than local time. However, when I go into my cloud account, the date of the ride is correct.
No sign-in issues today with the latest 22353 version (I did a couple of starts with some time in between). Date of ride was also correct. Of course, the bug was somewhat intermittent, so hard to know if the problem is gone.
Issue seems to be recolved with the latest 22353 version
