Video Codec issues / w11 /

4.28.0.9725

OS build 22593.1

All videos show up with horizontal green blocks over it, which seems to be a codec issue with windows media foundation. They play fine in the old media player, 64 bit with the codecs forced to use Klite LAV video. however if i play in windows film and video the blocks appear. All was fine before the latest windows 11 updates.
The test machine is solely used for TDA.

It seems TDA uses windows media foundation. which i dont understand, I'd bake in my own optimized codec and ensure there never are issues like this and the video quality and color display can be optimal

How can i force TDA to use the proper codec?

  • Perhaps it is not a codec issue.  TDA videos use some type of DRM authorization system and maybe that is causing the problem with W11.   You will note that the TDA video content file is not a standard video format.  If it was, you could try playing the video file outside of TDA using a W11 player program.

  • thx but i still have the older videos in m4v which i use to test.

They play fine in the old windows media player with assigned codecs, but not in the film & tv app which is using the windows media foundation. Identical issue.

So my beta debugging days are a decade behind me but i am pretty sure the issue is one of codecs, since i can reproduce it exactly that way
