HRM-PRO connectivity issue

  • For some time, including both the latest public and beta releases of TDA, I have had trouble getting my BT HRM's (Polar and Wahoo) to connect.  First, I have to be sure the trainer is connected before the HRM.  After that, I often have to re-intiate the search button in the upper right end part of the screen as well as connect button for the HRM itself.  TDA always finds the HRM, but it is just slow or semi-reliable in actually connecting. Eventually, it almost always connects.  Once connected, it works fine.  Occasionally, I close TDA and restart.  I have mentioned this a number of times.

TDA used to be highly reliable in connecting to HRM's, but this seemed to have started about 2 months or so ago when Tacx announced a release that was supposed to making BT connecting more reliable..

This happens with both my Neo2T as well as my Flux2 Smart, so I doubt it has anything to do with which trainer is being used.

  • Hey Andrea and Micheal, thanks for reporting these issues. We will pick them up asap. I will let you know if we need other information of have an updated version for you to test.

    Greetings,

    Tom (PO @ Tacx)

  • No much improvment on beta 1.26.0.6659,......often i've to restart 2,3 times the app in order to properly connect to the HRM-PRO (sw 7.40)......

  • Same problem with my HRM. Have a couple (Tacx and Wahoo) and tried both, it takes many attempts to connect either.

  • I can't yet tell if 6659 is better or not.  Yesterday, it connected quickly to my Polar HRM.  But, it has been unpredictable - sometimes fast, sometimes very slow.  So, I will have to test it for a while to see if I get one of those very slow instances.

  • Same problem again today. I connected my Garmin HRM via Ant+ in the end, I gave up trying BT.

  • I don’t have the ANT+ antenna since mine is faulty, so “forced” to use BT but simply give a lot of headache with so many issues (and using “official” Garmin HRM….not cheap cinese hardware)

  • I have 3 Garmin Dual HRM.These have recently been updated to Software Version 2.50.All connect with no issues and my HR remains stable throughout the ride. The test using latest TDA Beta 6659 was done by restarting TDA with a different monitor on the belt and connecting with BT in devices.I have had a number of HR monitors in the past including Tacx and Wahoo that have failed. The Garmin Dual HRM in my opinion is the best with battery life/belt staying tight and reliability.

  • With yesterday's ride. I had to do a bunch of button pushing to get my BT Polar HRM to connect, but eventually it did.  So, I am not sure anything has improved.

Just finished today's ride and connection with Polar HRM was slow and required multiple attempts.

One thing I have noticed is that when TDA is trying to connect, my PC's red LED indicating hard drive activity is blinking like crazy, but as soon as it connects it stops.  It seems that perhaps the software is stuck in some kind of a loop.

  • On today's ride using my Flux2 Smart and Wahoo Tickr HRM, both devices connected fairly quickly.  However, I again noticed what I regard as a quirk.  I inadvertently connected the HRM first, then the Flux2 trainer.  I noticed previously that when I do this, the trainer will only connect as a power meter with the speed and cadence sensors not showing at all.  The only solution I have found is to disconnect everything, reinitiate a search and connect the trainer first, followed by the HRM.  I would appreciate an explanation of why this happens.
