Adding autolap to tacx app

My garmin forerunner watch does auto-lap every 1km. i love seeing the splits. Can tacx app add in autolap so we can see km splits? this also makes it easier to see improvements on specific sections, such as climbs, as this data isn't stored anywhere.

  • I wish! Further to auto lap, i wish the "climbs" would be laps also. So you could monitor your progress.

  • laps or segments - then we could look at all of our efforts on that climb

  • Is this a feature for the video part of the simulation? like auto lap is great for running/swimming etc but in cycling where near all the rides are not pancake flat, the differing grades would effect your times per kilometer more then your effort.

Some kind of way of displaying your past times on the various KOMs would be great. In a older software we used to have your past efforts show up inside the video to race against as soon as the hill started, at the top they would vanish but you would see your time against your past times for a few seconds.  Would something like this be what your looking for?

  • Yes you explained what i would be most interested in. I want a way to compare old efforts to new efforts (like strava koms or a 400m, 1km effort in running) so i can see if i am improving.

Unless TacxApps were to completely shift away from cycling, it’s likely they’d aim to display your best times on a KOM, as this is key in a cycling context.

Ideally though, for a tool that would work to do what you want on all types of rides they’d offer an option to display the power profile—often called the "Mean Max curve"—which shows your peak power output in watts over different time intervals (from, say, 30 seconds to 20 minutes). This graph provides a clear view of your current performance against past efforts, regardless of hill length. Simply moving today’s line above previous efforts reflects your improvement.

This kind of feature is the gold standard and part of why it’s so prominent on Strava. Garmin Connect also has one, though it’s strangely hidden away a bit on the activity tab and isn’t available as a default graph on the desktop. For serious cyclists, this is the most insightful chart.  I think of this chart as a cyclists DNA :-) it shows with a single glance your endurance, strength on short hills, mountain efforts, TT performance, and even sprinting capacity if you’ve done such efforts. against today's efforts...& these can be completely random length hard efforts

  • Additionally, when you do an interval training in Tacx app, for example 3x10 min, when the workout uploads to Garmin Connect, Connect doesn´t show the information about each lap separatelly, only 1 lap for the whole workout. There must be an option to show the differents laps/splits. Thanks

  • I look at the power curve, of course. The problem with the power curve is that is does not tell you where within an activity the effort took place. Different workouts may have a different focus. When you are not a professional, you training just for fun, and sometimes just having a quick win makes you feel good. I want to blast up a hill, and then the next time I blast up a hill, I want to know if it is easier or harder.

Currently, if I do a workout where I try to hold a certain wattage for x-minutes. At the end of the workout, I can't actually discern if I achieved my goal or not....

Garmin is also a business, and if they are unwilling to put in the features that I am looking for, then this one consumer will bring their money elsewhere. I may not be the target consumer for their product, which is also okay.

  • I am really surprised that a tech company is not capable of adding this feature, that already exists, to this product. They've made some other updates that are stupid (like the colour coded visual during the climbing segments - yet they still aren't a lap).

Perhaps time to move to another platform instead.

In a previous software I was involved in, your previous 5 best efforts on any marked KOM inside the ride were fed back to you as avatars to race against at the start of the KOM in any filmed simulation, if they were all behind you you had a PR..at the top they vanished so you could adequately recover.  The KOM part of Tacx apps is ripe for adding a lot of fun basic info, this feature did not take a lot of time to add developing in python. They could have easily added a dedicated curated segments section for Tacx Apps inside Garmin Connect...would have been massively popular as we would have a proper scoreboard for every KOM in the Tacx film collection. You would then have your best times & these might then be easily fed back to the app to deliver what your asking for...I think it would be great also!
