Incorrect HR data while sleeping with vivosport

I've experienced an inaccurate HR a few times while sleeping with my vivosport. I use my Fenix 5X during the day, and the vivosport at night for sleep data. A few instances, I'll put the vivosport on before bed. When I wake up, my sleep data shows my HR was 100-120 bpm all through sleep, and suddenly I've completed 1200 intensity minutes. Why does this occur. TrueUp seems to be working properly and syncing devices as I interchange them, but I'm puzzled by the vivosport HR behavior.

Additionally, I wish there was a way to delete the inaccurate days of sleep data so it does not through off my overall statistics.

Thanks,
Joe
  • I chatted with Garmin tech support and they suggested that I wear the vivosport 2 hrs before bedtime to establish the HR for sleeping. It probably gives time for TrueUp to sync both devices to Garmin connect with activity on both. I'll try that and report an update back in a few weeks.
  • The Vivosport sleep tracking simply does not work. Totally erratic, complicated overview with stuff I actually don't care but the tracking is totally incorrect. I wear it 24/24. As a result I stop using the brand-new Vivosport and will try to sell it, then look for a Fitbit (again). Waste of time and money. Total disappointment. Vivosport was said to be "the best" in the market. What a joke. must be written by paid contributors. As from today, I don't use it anymore. Useless as sleep tracking and resting heart rate were some of the most important points for me. Well, lots to talk about in my next web article.
  • As I cannot open a new post (no idea why, my question is never answered), I can only post here. As the sleep tracking issue remains unsolved and it is the most important use for me, I now stopped using Vivosport, as it is worthless. I am trying to sell it, if I can't, I just keep it in case Garmin solves the problem. Waiting a bit but I probably will get back (reluctantly) to Fitbit. All of this will make a nice article. It is pretty incredible Vivosport scores so "high" on Google search but nobody gives a peep about this flaw. One can imagine how that all works...
  • I found sleep tracking was fairly accurate unless I had just taken it off charge prior to going to bed. But, after the 3.4 firmware update, it became very erratic with the sleep/wake times.
  • As far as the HR side of things, it seemed to do ok. But, I also understand that it has it's limitations. How loose for tight you wear it seems to affect the readings. And, of course, it isn't going to be nearly as accurate as one of those chest strap HR monitors.
  • Vivosport sleep tracking is a total failure. So sad. I did the test wearing my new Fitbit Alta on one hand, the Vivosport on the other. Results were very clear and confirming: forget Vivosport as for now, as for me sleep tracking is the first priority. Vivosport simply shaved 90 minutes of my sleep without any reason. Alta did all correctly. Now Garmin in the drawer, Alta on my wrist. Maybe one day Garmin solves that issue. Plan to report the details on my website. As far as I can see, my case is normal and not isolated....
  • Hi "bjprc", I'm interested to learn why in your opinion the sleeptracking is wrong.

I also wear the Vivosport 24/24 and for me it looks like good sleeptracking.
Meaning, it is definitely correct about start and end of sleep.
I'm no expert on sleep statistics. So no idea if it is correct about minutes light sleep, deep sleep, rem sleep and movements during sleep.
But that looks okay to me.

I checked around and obviously I am not the only one discovering the erratic readings. Some say there would be an "update" on the way but obviously nothing has happoened. My symptons are in line with what others say. E.g. I go to bed 12 pm. Vivosport says I fell asleep 1:30 am (totally wrong). Or, I go to the toilet (quickly) 5 am, returnin to bed, wake up 7:30 am. Vivosport says I woke up 5 am, nothing afterwards. I am now using Fitbit ALTA, normally reading are very correct. Only sometimes an error occurs if I go to bed, sleep less than 60 min, get up for a few minutes than go to bed again. The Alta ignores the first 50 min. See here a night I used both Vivosport and Alta (yes yes yes, using many hours before bed time!)(one on left wrist one on right wrist). The difference is striking and typical. As sleep tracking for me is most important... Vivosport is in the drawer. BTW: I have the latest updates for firmware and app,ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1388193.png
  • I did not see any update on this issue, the Garmin is still in the drawer and I am using Fitbit Alta, much less features but sleep tracking is great. I might try again the Garmin to see if any progress. Keep in mind I wear it for 24 hours, not just before going to bed. As for any update on Firmware, not clear how to check this in an easy way
  • I again made a test Garmin vs Alta, respecting all "instructions", and again the typical false reporting. See the pics, the Alta reading is correct.
