Vivosport HR problems solved!

I am a Vivosport owner and I finally found a way to get a reasonably accurate HR with indoor cycling ! It is a configuration problem. To remedy this , every time I cycle indoors, I follow this procedure:

1- I check the exact distance from my wrist bone to my elbow and multiple that by .237

2 - I locate the point at that calculated distance above my wrist bone (toward my elbow)

3 - Ensure that my Vivosport is located exactly at that point

4 - I perform a 4 minute breathing exercise with the Relax Timer and repeat until my Stress measures in the Low range

5 - I then remove the Vivosport from my arm and place it on a table

6 - Strap on my 3 year old Vivosmart HR in its place

7 - Exercise while accurately recording my Heart Rate.

Hope this helps!
  • Ha.I had a good laugh reading your advice.Nicely written.HAHA.I must admit that this device is pretty much worthless for anything else but steady pace running.I had loads of fun during a cardio session with HR reading between 80 and 128 bpm.Readings during Strengh Trainning sessions are loads of fun too.The least Garmin can do is allow connection to external HR sensors. But one can only hope.

LOL. You got my hopes up, though. The joke is really on all of us for being suckered into buying a $200 "premium" device that doesn't work.

Your right - I have concluded it is a piece of junk! I would be okay with the old VS HR, even though it lacks some of the new features I like, but it is just so thick. Too bad Garmin doesn't seem to even acknowledge that they took a step backwards with the newer watches' HR function.

If you follow the Garmin advice below the HR sensor remains fairly accurate during running, cycling or walking. I compare it with TomTom adventure smart watch and my old Vetta HR1000 cycle computer.
