Walking autoactivity should not start the GPS.

Hi,

There seems to be a "design" flaw in the Automatic registration of MoveIQ activities.

The feature is very nice - and one on the things I relly missed from the fitbit days - so I am very happy to see this feature.

But it should never be allowed to start the GPS - starting the GPS should only be done intentionally by the user.

99 of 100 walks should not be GPS tracked as they are simple transportation or slow evening strolls.
Even then parts of the GPS recording is lost - so Auto starting GPS really does nothing but waste battery really really fast - so that you sped your nights charing instead of tracking.

Is there someway to fix this - i do want the automatic activities from MoveIQ but I dont want automatic start of the GPS ?

If anyone knows a how to fix this please help!

I barely have two days of battery life on my vivosport - and that is a very annoying.
I really like to have my activities recoreded automatically - but running out of battery every 1.5 days is not workable :-(

My GPS isn't activated during a MoveIQ auto-start and I actually wish it did! I can't find any settings to enable/disable the GPS during auto-start. Sorry.

I like the idea that the GPS can be auto started (and if you have that many casual walks, turn the autostart off, the walking event will still be detected and show in your calendar, but not saved as a distinct activity), but it does indeed exclude the missing 5 or 10 mins (of course, since it wasn't on), but the time spent on the activity is backdated to account for that 5 or 10 mins I believe.

How are you getting the GPS to work with an auto-start activity? Mine isn't doing that. The only time I get GPS data is if I manually start an activity.

I can't understand why you'd wish for autostart of gps -. it simply drains the battery and the you dont have any gps for the first 10 minutes - it is a completely useless feature IMO.

Mine ramdomly chooses to start the gps after 10 minutes of walking I usualy delete the activity as soon as it buzzes. Other times it just startes a walking activity without gps.
I do like to have all my walks tracked as real activities like the fitbit does - and not just as moveIQ events.
Probably I'll have to turn off the autotracking - hopefully it will be addressed.

Well, I'd like to have the ability to choose to have the GPS start when an auto-start event begins. My GPS only starts when I do a manually started walk. I hike in the hills every day. I'd prefer to just start hiking rather than having to manually start that event in order to have the GPS record my location. If you know how to set the device to turn the GPS on/off during auto-start activities, please share!

I wish I knew - how to enable/disable GPS for automatic activities.

If someone knows any hacks for disabling (or enabeling) GPS for automatic activities please let us know.

Had the opportunity to ask support about this.
Turns out that the GPS should start on all autoactivities if it can find a GPS signal.
Not sure that it is so - but it is the explanation I got.
Seems like a design flaw at least for my use.
