I bougth a vivosmart last week bu returned it as it was not tracking my daily bike rides at all. I tried to manually start an activity and logging it as run, strapping it to my leg but that didn't do the trick reliably. So I upgraded to the vivosport as I want my daily bike commutes included in tracking my activities. Today I manually started an outdoor cycling activity to enable GPS tracking. After my cycling it had recorded it as moveIQ and not as a manually started activity (why, I do not know). That is annoying as MoveIQ things do not show in activity, and doesn't seem to appear to count as weekly intensity minutes. Also, those MoveIQ events do not sync to strava. And somehow I doubt the calory count accuracy of MoveIQ. 100 something calories for a 10km ride with some hefty uphill cycling? What am I missing? Why is a manually started activity converted to MoveIQ. Can you disable moveIQ as I do not see it's value and it's plain wrong. Yesterday it recorded vacuum cleaning as a MoveIQ event, classifying it as cross training (eleptical machine?)
I don't know about the vivosport in detail but you didn't mention that you actually stopped the activity. You have to do that with pretty much every other Garmin device.
That was indeed the strange thing. When I stopped cycling and wanted to manually stop, it already had automatically stopped. I do not know if MoveIQ overrides a manually started activity? I did for sure manually start, and it was working, I verified but due to snowy conditions I didn't check all the time. It had stopped when I arrived
I suppose it might have been on auto-pause. However, before you go out the next time, try a test activity, stop it, save it, confirm that it appears, and then just delete it from the icon in the upper right corner of the full page view of the activity.
Yes, probably, it worked the next day. Very annoying behaviour that autopause. In winter you are bound to wear layers and gloves. They touch the display all the time. Even when I have display locked always, apparantly friction of clothes unlocks it, erasing all kind of stuff.
