Indoor Treadmill Run Accuracy

Folks,

Recently picked up a Garmin Vivosport to replace an old watch that died. I'm a runner, and move indoors to the treadmill when the weather gets cold. So far I've done about 4 runs outdoors of about 5 miles each. Today I did an indoor treadmill run of about 5 miles (according to the treadmill, which is new/accurate), but the Garmin picked it up as a 6.3 mile run. I appreciate the bonus, but I'm more interested in accuracy. I've been where I can edit the total distance, which is fine. Is there any way to increase the accuracy?

    Hi
did you try to modify The step length in the user's parameters?

Here is the information to modify your step length: User Settings on Your Garmin ConnectTm Account

From your Garmin Connect account, select User Settings. Custom Step Length Allows your device to more accurately calculate the distance traveled using your custom step length. You can enter a known distance and the number of steps it takes to cover the distance, and Garmin Connect can calculate your step length.
  • With the Vivosport, it appears you can only edit the stride length for Walking, not for Running. Such a bummer. Can anyone think of any way around this?
