What is with that crazy expensive/proprietary replacement usb charge cable for Vivosmart4 (010-12819-00)

It's $30 from Garmin direct and since no other device uses that style and relatively few of these watches were sold, so there are no cheap clones?

A factory refurb Vivosmart4 is like $50 but the cable is $30? Seriously?

Has anyone found a $10 replacement anywhere in the world?

Or maybe some other watch model that is close enough so it works or can be made to work?

  • Look on eBay.

I bought one for $10. But the weak link is really the watch/band area where the charging takes place. That is prone to cracking, then it''s trash.

Best to move on to something else.

  • DCRainmaker has done a YouTube video recommending a charging puck available as a 2-pack from Amazon for IIRC, $9 US.  I'm strongly considering it because the Garmin-supplied charging cables I've got have always been unbelievably sensitive to the slightest movement of the watch while syncing and charging.  It's unfortunate there should be such a very simple weak link for a very fine watch/tracker as the VivoActive 4S, but there we are.

  • This thread is about a Vivosmart 4.....
