Vivosmart 4 won't charge

Got a Garmin Vivosmart 4 for Christmas 2021 as a gift. Nothing happens when I connect the charger. I looked at the forum and cleaned the contacts with alcohol. It still does not seem that the charging cord is connecting with the device. I've tried connecting it to a computer and to a USB charger, no difference. I see some references to buttons on the device, but I don't see any. There's a small silver ellipse at the lower part of the screen, but holding it down does nothing, probably because it's not charged. Any suggestions?

Hi, I tried all of those things, but this time I cleaned the contacts with a toothbrush dipped in isopropyl alcohol and I was able to get the phone to begin charging, so good for now. I'll let you know if it doesn't continue to charge. Thanks for your suggestions.
