Problem adding swimming activity to vivosmart 4

Hi,
I have a new vivosmart 4 device.
I didn't find a way to add it - neither on the mobile nor on the web app.
I can create the swimming activity on the app, but after syncing, I don't see it on the vivosmart activities menu.
I did notice here that this issue is well known but couldn't find any solution.
Is there is one?

Hello! When you mention creating a swimming activity on the app, do you mean a workout that you want to download to the watch and follow?

Unfortunately the Vivosmart 4 is not compatible with downloading a swim workout on to the watch. Here is a link that shows which workout is compatible with each workout type.

Hi, I am simply trying to add swimming to the list of activities to record my workout - using same device, vivosmart 4. How is this done?

HI, as you see this cannot be done with vivosmart the same way as other activities as the vivosmart4 dosen't support swimming.
As a workaround you can create a walking/running activity and start the swimming workout as walking...
After concluding the activity, you can change the recorded activity type to swimming.
Then you can change manualy some paramters like distance.
Anyway the measures like heartrate are not always accurate when you swim , but it still can give some insite. so I do use this workaround.

This is confusing as the box advertises "swim"

Which of the Garmin devices will track swim workouts?

As an alternative, will the vivosmart4 sync with an external heart rate monitor I could use while swimming?

My Vivosmart 4 has a POOL SWIM activity, but ive never used it so i can't say if it is any good or not.

OK! I have checked the updated Garmin Connect app and now you can add "Swimming" workout. On my app this is not in the default activities list but you can add and then sync it to your vivosmart4 activities. I will check it next workout...

I have checked the swimming activity on my vivosmart4. It counts number of pools and hand strikes, BUT dosn't record heartrate. So funcionality is still limited.

Yep, the activities are crippled.
One of the reasons I upgraded to a VA4 and only use the VS4 at night once or twice a week.
