Why won’t my battery charge

My Garmin is only a year old but will not charge. Thank you for your help.

Which Garmin device do you have? Could be a variety of reasons. Here are a few possibilities:

Your charging cable is not working. Swap for a known working cable.
Charging port is not working. If using USB on computer, change to a known working wall charger.
Metal contacts between Garmin and cable are dirty. Clean the metal contacts.
Battery has reached end-of-life, as typically a lithium-ion battery will last around 500 discharge cycles. Probably not your issue since only a year old
Watch is defective. Contact Garmin Support.

I have a Vivosmart HR. What is the best way to clean the metal contacts?

You can try rubbing the contacts with a pencil eraser.

I use a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol, then water, then nothing (to dry) for cleaning the contacts on both the cable and the watch, which has worked well for me for two years now.
