Vivosmart 4 syncs but no GPS

Hi, I have a Vivosmart 4  which syncs as it should and everything was working great until I went for a cycle and the watch prompted me to open the app for GPS signal (this has never caused an issue and has always worked) and I was left waiting for it connect to the phone's gps but never did.

Things I've tried:

- Un pairing and re - pairing

- All permissions pertaining to connect app on my phone on

- removing device, factory reset, uninstalling/reinstalling app and re-doing the setup fresh

- Switching phone off and on

I'm at a loss. It seems that the connect app is not even requesting location data, because when I use google maps I get the icon at the top telling me it's using my location, the garmin connect app does not show me this (can't remember if it ever did). I am using a Samsung Galaxy S7 and I say that because the watch/app (whichever has the issue) has no issues connecting GPS with my old iPhone 6s. But I don't want to switch phones just to use this watch.

If anyone can help, please let me know, much appreciated.

Adam

  • I have exactly the same problem with my Vivosmart 4. It has only happened since the Connect app upgraded to version 4.32 around the middle of this last week. My wife's works fine on the earlier version of the app - she has now turned off auto-update until this issue is fixed by Garmin. Hope this helps :-)

  • Same happened to my watch last week after upgrade GPS via Connect/phone stopped working. The mobile app shows sending GPS but Garmin Style watch cannot connect. Worked like a charm with previous firmware version.

Yes, my app auto updated the other day, that must be it because the app on my iPhone is an earlier version. Right, I'll try and contact Garmin to make them aware of this issue if they are not already. Cheers!

Okay I found a previous version of the app build 4.31.1 and installed that and it works again. It's something to do with the 4.32 update.

If you can find build Version 4.31.1 online, that's the version before it updated. It'll work. I replaced the new one with the old one this morning and it works 100% again.

Same here, I tried all those things as well.  Notified Garmin but haven't heard back

Do you have an android phone? You can find a previous app version online and install it, should work again.

I have emailed Garmin product support and the app developer email and explained the situation as well and I hope they update the app and fix the issue. I don't like having to go to the bother of installing other versions just to use their product that I  paid money for.
